As someone who has always been captivated by the intricacies of human nature, particularly when it comes to understanding the darker aspects of our psyche, I am genuinely thrilled about ITV’s upcoming true crime drama, “Until I Kill You.” The fact that it is based on a true story and stars Anna Maxwell Martin and Shaun Evans, both of whom have proven their acting mettle in previous roles, makes it all the more enticing.
The release date for ITV’s new true crime drama, Until I Kill You, has been confirmed.
Featuring Anna Maxwell Martin as Ludwig and Shaun Evans in the role of Endeavour, this series unfolds the actual account of Delia Balmer’s harrowing experience with a life-threatening romantic ordeal.
The television show, adapted from Balmer’s book “Living with a Serial Killer,” is scheduled to broadcast for four straight days, starting from Sunday, 3rd November, and continuing until Wednesday, 6th November, airing each night at 9pm on ITV1.
Earlier this month, a preview for the upcoming series became available, featuring Delia (played by Martin) encountering John (portrayed by Evans). Later on, she informs the authorities that the reality they’re investigating is essentially looking them right in the eye.
You can watch it below:
In 1991, Delia lives a wandering and secluded existence in London as a traveling nurse from an agency. One day, while at a local tavern, she encounters another free spirit named John Sweeney. It appears that this encounter might be the connection Delia has long been seeking.
Over time, the character of Sweeney transitions from his bohemian, rebellious image to a more sinister persona, eventually leading to a string of brutal assaults against Delia. During these attacks, he confesses that he murdered his previous partner and disposed of her remains in an Amsterdam canal.
In my movie-loving perspective, here’s how I’d rephrase it: “Despite being arrested, an unimaginable error by the court allows Sweeney to be released on bail. Seizing this opportunity, he mercilessly attacks Delia in a brutal, life-threatening assault. Miraculously, she survives, but Sweeney manages to escape capture and vanishes.
