For gamers who prefer Xbox, locating a reliable wireless controller within a budget of $100 can be challenging, especially outside Microsoft’s own products. However, the situation is improving, as PowerA has partnered with Bandai Namco to introduce an eye-catching, glow-in-the-dark Xbox wireless controller that will appeal to retro gaming enthusiasts.
This PAC-MAN Special Edition Wireless Controller is a tribute to PAC-MAN’s 45th anniversary and was initially kept secret. However, I have observed that it can now be purchased for $99.99 on both Amazon and PowerA’s official website.
A controller that looks great with the lights off
1st thing I eagerly wanted to do upon receiving the controller at my doorstep was to inspect it in the dark to appreciate its glowing-in-the-dark effect without any extra UV lighting.
Despite its adorable retro design, this controller boasts features that appeal to me, like wireless connectivity via a USB dongle and Hall Effect thumbsticks and triggers. This technology prevents analog drift and enhances durability – something Xbox hasn’t incorporated in their own controllers yet.
Considering the price, it’s an excellent value compared to other wireless contenders with similar specifications, such as the Razer Wolverine V3 or Turtle Beach Stealth Ultra, which are priced twice as high. The PAC-MAN controller includes 3-way trigger locks for adjustable pull distance, 4 customizable buttons, and up to 30 hours of battery life on a single charge.

I look forward to using this before my children steal it

Although my kids might not reminisce about PAC-MAN due to their young age, the adorable pixelated style is likely to grab their attention, which means I may not get to keep this controller for long.
On the bright side, it’s one of the more affordable third-party wireless options for Xbox available, with only PowerA’s Fortnite SE controller and the PDP Realmz Minecraft Wireless controller being in our collection right now. The latter lacks hall effect technology.
The unique glowing design will blend well with my existing Xbox controllers and add a touch of uniqueness to my collection. I’ll soon be posting a review on its functionality and whether I believe the $100 price tag is justified, but so far, my initial thoughts are positive.
