Valorant’s newest agent Tejo arrives — and he’s free for Xbox Game Pass subscribers

As 2025 gets underway, one of Riot Games’ big titles is getting a bit of a shake-up.

Tejo is the most recent character being integrated into Valorant, which is a free-to-play competitive shooter from Riot Games. This newcomer possesses abilities centered around controlling maps with slow-moving yet potent explosives, making them a significant danger to those who aren’t agile on their feet.

In the past couple of days, I’ve had a short trial with Tejo in some games, and I’ve also felt the impact of his equipment during several matches. To put it simply, Tejo is an exciting new character that’s going to significantly alter popular team configurations this season.

Move or die, Agents

In essence, though his talents predominantly revolve around pyrotechnics, Tejo additionally possesses a covert surveillance drone. This drone is particularly useful at the beginning of each round as it can gather intelligence about potential threats approaching your position or concealed near corners, thereby allowing your team to swiftly identify and respond to enemies.

Throughout the game, his grenade and Guided Salvo skills stay hazardous, posing a threat for an entire round. Notably, the Guided Salvo can be challenging to handle due to its broad damage area. It’s effortless to find oneself cornered if one isn’t cautious enough.

Over multiple games, this skill proved fatal for me and my teammates on numerous occasions. Despite requiring a brief moment to activate, the high damage output makes it worthwhile. Already, I’ve witnessed some incredibly strategic uses of Guided Salvo that significantly influenced the course of each round. I can’t wait to see more creative ways players will exploit this ability.

Tejo’s ultimate move, Armageddon, maintains the destructive pattern by summoning a sustained bombardment over a section of the map. The relatively leisurely pace of the air strike makes it possible to evade if I dash aside, but when unfortunate circumstances trap me in a narrow street, survival becomes nearly impossible. Even for players quick enough to escape, this ultimate move is ideal for obstructing crucial routes, providing teammates with valuable extra seconds while setting or defusing a bomb.

I’m equally eager to find out how various team configurations will tackle Tejo’s skills. A handful of matches isn’t enough to predict an entire season, but it’s certain that the coming months will bring intrigue to Valorant, whether you’re a casual gamer or deeply involved in the competitive world.

Luckily, you don’t need to wait any longer! Tejo is now accessible in Valorant, and you can explore him right away by purchasing him with Valorant Points. However, remember that just like all other Agents, he comes free of charge on the first day for anyone who has subscribed to Xbox Game Pass.

At the moment, you can play Valorant for free across several platforms such as Xbox Series X|S, Windows computers, and PlayStation 5. Notably, the console editions support cross-platform gaming.
