As a movie enthusiast who has spent countless hours delving into the intricacies of various franchises, I must say, the latest crossover between Venom and Kuromi is nothing short of delightful! It’s like watching two goth queens bonding over their shared love for rakkyo infused chocolates.
Venom continues to push boundaries with its most daring film yet, capturing global attention. Following a two-film stint at Sony Pictures, Venom: The Last Dance has officially premiered. As anticipated, the movie lives up to the hype and Venom leaves no stone unturned in generating excitement for its return. Now, even in Japan, Sanrio is joining the fray, and who better for the brand to team with Venom than Kuromi?
It’s long overdue for these two gothic queens to cross paths. On social media, Venom garnered attention from fans when he made a surprise appearance on Kuromi’s page. Take a look below; you’ll notice that the two characters exchanged snacks with each other. We must admit, Venom is adorable in his anime avatar.
Kuromi and Venom Are Now Best Friends for Life
Gosh, what a shock!”, said Kuromi upon discovering Venom hidden near her window. “Venom, here’s an offering of rakkyo-flavored chocolates for you.
The joke carries on to Venom‘s social media, but this time, it is Kuromi who gets a makeover. The team at Sony Pictures gave the mascot a CG makeover and put her back-to-back with Venom. The pair seem to be on good terms, and their promo puts their new movie on blast: Kuromi: The Last Rakkyo.
It’s quite evident that Venom is strongly embracing Kuromi, and fans are thrilled about this unexpected collaboration. It’s not every day you see Marvel’s symbiote teaming up with Sanrio for promotions. After all, Venom has always been an unpredictable character, and we’ve seen him switch roles from enemy to ally over the years. However, when it comes to Kuromi, it appears that the symbiote has found a new best friend.
Moreover, it’s important to note that “Venom: The Last Dance” has engaged in more than just this crossover event. Recently, in Japan, it collaborated with “GeGeGe no Kitaro”, and earlier with an anime titled “Brave Bang Bravern”. These unconventional partnerships have left fans surprised, but the crew seemed unfazed by the latest Kuromi collaboration.
Hello Kitty Is No Stranger to Crossovers
Hello Kitty isn’t new to leveraging her global popularity. After all, she’s one of the most recognized mascots worldwide! A few years back, Hello Kitty made headlines due to her collaboration with Transformers. In a series of anime shorts, Hello Kitty transformed into a mech suit, a sight that stuck in many people’s minds. This is just one example of the numerous cross-promotions she has been involved in over time.
From Sonic the Hedgehog to My Hero Academia and Junji Ito, the list goes on and on for Sanrio. Hello Kitty is too cute for her own good, really. It is her kawaii aesthetic that has turned Hello Kitty into a household name. Sanrio has banked a net value of over $6 billion USD to date thanks to Hello Kitty and her marketable friends. Now, Marvel is taking a slice of that success for itself. Venom and Kuromi are besties now, so we’re crossing out fingers that official merch comes from this offer.
At the moment, we’ll have to make do with the treats that “Venom: The Last Dance” offers us, as it has just premiered in America this past weekend and its global box office earnings exceed $182 million USD. In the U.S., the figure is around $59 million USD, indicating a substantial contribution from international viewers to the symbiote’s success. Fingers crossed that Kuromi’s collaboration will attract even more fans to theaters for “Venom”‘s new adventure.
