Venom May Have Already Been Teased by Spider-Man on Disney+

Fans of Spider-Man might be in for a surprising encounter between their favorite superhero and Venom, but not exactly the battle they had anticipated. The possibility of a Spider-Man vs. Venom showdown on the big screen is less likely now that Sony has decided to reduce its Spider-Man film universe output. However, Spidey has found a new abode on Disney+ with the debut of Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man. The first two episodes are currently streaming, and an exciting fight in the premiere could pave the way for Venom to appear. SPOILER ALERT: This article contains spoilers for Episode 1 of Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man.

The opening episode of Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man features an unexpected showdown between Doctor Strange and an extraterrestrial lifeform labeled as a “symbiotic being” in the subtitles, right within Midtown High School. This encounter with Doctor Strange hints that our favorite web-slinger’s world exists across multiple universes. However, it’s this strange creature he’s battling that captivates us. As it’s called a symbiote, we can expect the appearance of Venom soon.

Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man reveals Venom Easter egg

In this scene, Peter Parker and Aunt May observe Doctor Strange clashing with a symbiotic extraterrestrial, resulting in Midtown High School getting demolished. As the conflict unfolds, a spider crawls along a web, traveling through the portal that both Doctor Strange and the symbiote came through, landing on Peter’s shoulder. Eventually, Doctor Strange manages to contain the symbiote and sends it back through the portal. During this time, Peter Parker greets Nico Minoru, only to be bitten by the spider and lose consciousness. As his eyes drift shut, he notices the spider moving onto another child’s backpack as it is collected off the floor.

It seems that the most significant consequence of this event could be the introduction of Venom within “Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man.” Even though no remnant of the alien symbiote was shown after Doctor Strange’s capture, it does establish that symbiotes are present in this universe. The initial season of “Your Friendy Neighborhood Spider-Man” has numerous storylines, such as Norman Osborn’s tutelage and mastering Spider-Man abilities for crime-fighting. It’s unlikely Venom will make his debut in Season 1. Nevertheless, future seasons may feature the appearance of Venom.

In the upcoming Disney+ series “Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man”, the question remains: How might Venom make an appearance? Past projects such as the Marvel’s Spider-Man animated series and the PlayStation game franchise have featured various characters donning the alien symbiote. Potential possibilities include Harry Osborn bonding with Venom, or maybe introducing Eddie Brock down the line. The Disney+ series has numerous paths to explore if it decides to incorporate Venom.

Venom and Sony’s Spider-Man Universe future remains uncertain

A recent report in December revealed that Sony is temporarily halting production on its Spider-Man film series due to less than expected earnings from films like Morbius, Madame Web, Kraven the Hunter, and even Venom: The Last Dance, despite being the most successful live-action Spider-Man movies not including the Spider-Verse animated franchise. In light of these underperformances, Sony is focusing on collaborating with Marvel Studios to produce Spider-Man 4 starring Tom Holland instead.

Although Tom Hardy’s Venom may not be around for now, “Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man” offers a chance for the Lethal Protector to reach new fans. While we might miss the live-action clash between Spider-Man and Venom, with “Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man” being renewed for three seasons, it’s likely that Venom will be one of many characters featured. The first season could even bring Venom to the screen earlier than expected. The wait might make his appearance in “Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man” even more exciting.
