As a die-hard Marvel fan who’s been following the lore since the days of comic books, I can’t help but be intrigued by the latest twist in Venom: The Last Dance. With Knull, the God of Symbiotes, set to make his big screen debut, the speculation about who’ll play him has sent fans into a frenzy.
The latest teaser for “Venom: The Final Dance” left Marvel enthusiasts startled as it unveiled Knull, the ruler of symbiotes, as the main antagonist in the third installment. The Venom 3 trailer offers a fleeting look at Knull, showing him with his head bowed and his distinctive white hair obscuring his face. Although the identity of the actor portraying Knull remains uncertain, speculation abounds.
Who Is Rhys Ifans Playing in Venom 3?
One striking moment in the last trailer for Venom: The Last Dance was when Eddie Brock/Venom (Tom Hardy) hitched a ride in a van packed with hippies, among them Rhys Ifans, who was depicted strumming a guitar and offering deep counsel to Eddie. His words were, “There comes a time in every man’s life…
Some spectators interpret Iwan Rheon’s role in “Venom: The Last Dance” as a hint that he might be reprising his part as Curt Connors/The Lizard from The Amazing Spider-Man. However, it’s difficult to accept this theory because Rheon’s character is depicted playing the guitar with two hands, suggesting that if he is indeed Curt Connors, then he has managed to regenerate his lost arm and has presumably left his Lizard persona in the past. This could be a curious reference for fans, but then again, casting Iwan Rheon in “Venom: The Last Dance” seems like an unconventional decision on Sony’s part (just as adding Chiwetel Ejiofor to the cast is also somewhat unexpected).
As a dedicated gamer, I must admit that the return of Rhys Ifans as Curt Connors seems rather improbable, given that the subtitles in the scene clearly identify his character as “Martin.” Unless Connors is on an undercover mission to hide his criminal background, it’s likely we’re dealing with a different character. However, this doesn’t necessarily mean his presence is just a lure for Spider-Man enthusiasts…
Venom 3: Who Is Playing Knull?
Another possibility is that Rhys Ifans portrays Knull, and the scene where he plays guitar in a van might actually be a diversion. In this scenario, the God of Symbiotes assumes human form to interact with Eddie Brock/Venom prior to their anticipated confrontation, packed with superpowers. It’s also plausible that the film could alter Knull’s character, transforming him into a symbiote in search of a host, and Rhys Ifans’ character being the chosen one. The character depicted in the trailer wearing a white wig and makeup could potentially be Rhys Ifans himself.
Beyond the Rhys Ifans hypothesis, there isn’t much concrete information about who might portray Knull in Venom: The Last Dance. Should the film opt to transform the villain into a symbiote occupying a host, Chiwetel Ejiofor’s soldier character could potentially be a suitable candidate as well.
If “Venom: The Last Dance” stays true to the comics’ lore of Knull and features a new actor portraying the villain, it could potentially mean that an unexpected guest appearance is in store for us.
