Venom War Preview Teases Showdown With Spider-Man

As a long-time Marvel fan with memories of flipping through comic books at my local corner store, I am beyond excited for Venom War #2! The clash between Spider-Man and Venom has always been a fascinating dynamic, and the symbiote-centric story arc promises to deliver even more thrilling action.

Marvel is setting up a confrontation between Spider-Man and Venom. The current major crossover event in the Marvel Universe, titled “Venom War“, revolves around Eddie Brock and his son Dylan Brock, who have each hosted the Venom symbiote. Both father and son have glimpsed terrifying futures they are responsible for. So far, “Venom War” has provided unexpected developments, with the most significant being Spider-Man’s reunion with the Venom symbiote. It remains to be seen how Eddie Brock reacts to Spider-Man returning to the black suit. Readers will soon discover the answer.

In a new development, Marvel unveiled a sneak peek for issue #2 of Venom War, penned by Al Ewing, with artwork by Iban Coello, Frank D’Armata, and VC’s Ariana Maher. The narrative kick-starts with the introduction of Liz Allan’s character, Misery, following a Zombiote blast that overtakes the Alchemax building. This catastrophic event was orchestrated by Eddie Brock’s malevolent future self, Meridius. Despite his polished business attire, it’s clear that Meridius is nothing but trouble. Simultaneously, Spider-Man makes an appearance in the black suit, attempting to broker a truce between Eddie and Dylan, right in the middle of a wrestling ring.

When Spider-Man requests that Eddie call him by his suit’s name instead, Eddie counters by saying that it is Spider-Man who is wearing his symbiote. As the Venom War #2 preview concludes, Eddie inquires, “Why are you donning my symbiote, Spider-Man?”

What is Venom War #2 about?

The fierce struggle between VENOM’s venom continues! Eddie Brock Sr. and Jr., father and son, are locked in a savage fight to establish the authentic Venom! However, another competitor steps onto the stage – THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN! Meanwhile, the vindictive MERIDIUS moves his final pieces, releasing mindless half-zombie, half-symbiote creatures called ZOMBIOTES onto New York City. These creatures pose a dire threat to transform heroes, villains, and innocents into ravenous servants of MERIDIUS!
