Actress Brenda Blethyn, famous for her role on the popular crime show “Vera,” has shared an emotional note with fans after the series finale.
On January 2nd, the detective series concluded, marking Vera’s retirement from her trench coat after wrapping up her last case, during which she searched diligently for a missing girl that led her to delve into her personal recollections.
After the broadcast of the final episode, Blethyn expressed gratitude in a post for all the thoughtful messages received regarding the conclusion of Vera.
Each moment spent on that series was a joy, and I’ll surely miss it. The global fanbase’s kindness and warmth added an extra layer of magic to the experience. From the depths of my heart, thank you.

14 years ago, it was revealed that the show would conclude its run with the last episode airing. In this concluding chapter, Vera made her retirement announcement.
During intense moments, Vera returned to the workplace, starting to gather her things, while audiences were given a glimpse of a younger Vera working alongside her father to construct a fence.
On the next workday, Joe went into the office seeking Vera, but instead found a note saying: “It’s time for you to soar, dear. Take care and be confident x.
After that, the scene switched to Vera at the shoreline, accompanied by a wandering dog, signaling the conclusion of the renowned series.
After making the choice to conclude the series, I must confess it will be quite challenging for me to bid farewell to Vera.
She expressed gratitude in a post on X after hearing about the series ending. “Your kind words are greatly valued,” she said. “Starting next week, I’ll be filming for Series 14 of Vera. It’s going to be tough bidding goodbye.
Although Vera is stepping away, Blethyn has no plans to depart the acting sphere just yet. In a chat with author Ann Cleeves at the British Film Institute’s Vera: The Final Chapter, Blethyn was inquired about her retirement from acting.
She stated: “I’m not retired; I’ve merely moved south! I was at home, not even finished unpacking my luggage, when my agent rang and informed me about a film offer. I expressed reluctance, saying ‘I don’t feel like doing a film right now, I haven’t even unpacked yet.’
