Since long ago, it was believed that this console had been lost to history, either decaying in a Florida garage or discarded in a landfill somewhere across the United States. For nearly half a century, its existence remained unknown until 2023 when it reappeared. Now, two years later, you can find it listed for sale on eBay at an astounding price of $100,000.
The newly posted eBay item, open for Best Offers, has garnered 228 likes and is currently in the shopping carts of at least seven potential buyers considering buying the GameCube console. In essence, it seems there’s significant interest, despite its high price tag.
According to the eBay listing, the Space World GameCube version differs from a regular commercial one in numerous ways. To start with, it has a windowed lid instead of a solid one, and its reset button is flat compared to the standard console’s raised one. In contrast, the power button on this prototype model is round and convex, rather than being indented as in the commercial version. Furthermore, the words “power”, “reset”, and “open” are printed in white instead of being etched into the console. Additionally, it measures 1mm larger on every side compared to a standard GameCube console.
It’s worth mentioning that the console itself doesn’t engage in playing games; instead, it serves as a screen or display. The owner, however, has decided to sell this unique device to finance a bigger undertaking they have planned.
