Vince McMahon speaks out on Netflix documentary – brands it “deceptive”

As a seasoned movie reviewer with over three decades of experience under my belt, I’ve seen it all – from Schindler’s List to The Room. Yet, when it comes to the upcoming Netflix documentary, Mr McMahon, I find myself in uncharted waters.

Vince McMahon, a co-founder of WWE, has criticized the recently released Netflix documentary titled “Mr McMahon,” which portrays his journey from success to setbacks in the business world.

In the documentary, McMahon declared that he felt he was portrayed unfairly or inaccurately in the six-part series.

In a post on what used to be Twitter, McMahon wrote: “I have no regrets about being part of the Netflix documentary.

Producers could share an unbiased account of my life journey and the phenomenal business venture I established, encompassing equal doses of thrill, turmoil, enjoyment, and educational challenges, along with a touch of debate and valuable insights.

Regrettably, from what I’ve seen so far, it appears that the document does not meet expectations as it incorrectly merges the ‘Mr. McMahon’ character with my real identity, Vince. Just reading the title and promotional materials makes this connection obvious.

As a dedicated viewer, I find myself often perplexed due to information being deliberately skewed or omitted altogether, seemingly with the intent of keeping me bewildered.

Producers often manipulate content by using old clips out of their original context and soundbites from the past, which can make it seem like they’re presenting a skewed version of events to mislead viewers.

McMahon ended the statement, encouraging the audience to “maintain a flexible perspective and remember that there are often multiple perspectives on any given topic.

The six-part documentary series, set to air on Netflix tomorrow (25th September), delves into McMahon’s journey of turning WWE from a modest local enterprise into a worldwide entertainment empire, as well as the shocking sexual misconduct claims that ultimately led to his departure.

The documentary offers more than 200 hours of interviews with McMahon (before his resignation), his relatives, influential figures in the wrestling industry, and others. It strives to provide an honest, unfiltered perspective on the ex-WWE leader.

In the recent past, I found myself reflecting on the shocking news that emerged earlier this year regarding Vince McMahon’s departure from the WWE. The catalyst for this unexpected turn of events was a distressing sexual assault allegation leveled by a former employee, Janel Grant, against him.

According to Deadline’s report, neither Janel herself nor any of her associates were asked to speak about this project, as confirmed by a representative of Grant.

Regarding the documentary, attorney Ann Callis issued a statement asserting that Vince McMahon allegedly subjected Janel Grant to physical and emotional abuse, sexual assault, and human trafficking over a period of more than two years.

It’s absurd and pathetic to try to spin his terrible, wrongful actions as just an ‘affair’, when it’s clearly an effort to salvage a damaged reputation.

Even though Ms. Grant hasn’t watched the Mr. McMahon documentaries, we eagerly anticipate that they will shed a powerful light on his reprehensible and illegal activities, as they authentically depict the true nature of his abusive and exploitative conduct.

Ms. Grant will no longer endure the silence imposed by McMahon. Her harrowing tale, albeit distressing and intensely agonizing, serves as a beacon for other abuse survivors to speak out and share their own experiences.

Our goal is to make McMahon, John Laurinaitis, and WWE answer for their actions, and ensure that Ms. Grant gets a fair hearing in the court of law.

McMahon has previously denied the accusations made against him by Grant.

Earlier this year, the statement declared that “She openly filed a scandalous, untrue, and damaging complaint in public, which deliberately and intentionally broke an agreement to resolve disputes privately through arbitration.

The accusations made in the complaint about sexual abuse and coercion are entirely fabricated, clearly aimed at gaining attention, and directly contradict the plaintiff’s own statements from that time period.

In contrast to the plaintiff’s unfounded claims, it was consensual between the plaintiff and defendant that they were in a relationship. The defendant neither forced nor coerced the plaintiff into any actions during this time and never treated her unfairly or mistreated her.

Mr McMahon will be available to stream on Netflix on Wednesday 25th September.
