It has been confirmed that Viola Davis will be working alongside another movie with her. Following the success of her Prime Video hit “G20“, the actor is now set to star and produce a new Amazon thriller titled “Ally Clark”.
As stated, the Oscar-winning producer Irwin Winkler will also be responsible for the production of the film titled “Ally Clark.” This movie is expected to lead viewers from the grand halls of Washington D.C., through the humid Louisiana bayous and the frosty peaks of Alaska, as investigator Ally Clark (Davis) delves into a dangerous investigation of an international conglomerate following the mysterious death of a dear friend.
Philip Noyce will be the director for a script penned by Jose Ruisanchez and Winkler. With a rich background in action-thrillers, Noyce has previously helmed films such as “Patriot Games” and “Clear and Present Danger,” both featuring Harrison Ford, as well as “The Saint” starring Val Kilmer, and “Salt” with Angelina Jolie. His most recent directorial project was the 2023 action-thriller “Fast Charlie,” which stars Pierce Brosnan, a former James Bond actor, and Morena Baccarin from “Deadpool.
G20 Was a Hit on Prime Video Despite Rotten Reviews
Amazon swiftly secured Davis for another film following the release of “G20,” which has been available exclusively on Prime Video for just two months. Although the 2025 action thriller didn’t receive high praise from critics, garnering a low rating of on Rotten Tomatoes, “G20” proved to be a triumph in streaming, soaring to the top of Nielsen’s Movie chart during its premiere week with an impressive 516 million minutes viewed.
In the thrilling movie titled “G20“, directed by Patricia Riggen (known for Jack Ryan and Lemonade Mouth), we follow U.S. President Danielle Sutton (Davis) who becomes the prime target when the G20 summit is under attack. After managing to escape her captors, she embarks on a mission to outwit the adversaries, protect her family, defend her country, and shield world leaders in this high-octane adventure. The supporting cast for G20 includes Anthony Anderson, Marsai Martin, Ramón Rodríguez, Douglas Hodge, Elizabeth Marvel, Sabrina Impacciatore, and Clark Gregg, with Antony Starr portraying the sinister character of Edward Rutledge.
Amazon is gaining recognition for its growing collection of action-filled titles. These include hit series such as “Bosch,” “Cross,” and “Reacher” on Prime Video, along with box office successes like “The Beekeeper” and “The Accountant 2”. The excitement continues with the imminent launch of “Heads of a State”, an action-comedy where the characters play the President of the United States and the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. This movie will debut on Prime Video on July 2nd.
Moreover, the studio is simultaneously working on several action films for cinematic release. Among these are the live-action revival of “Masters of the Universe”, led by Alan Ritchson in the Christmas action-comedy “The Man with the Bag”, and an extended version of “Jack Ryan”. It’s also rumored that Amazon MGM is negotiating for a project featuring Henry Cavill. Notably, David Leitch has confirmed that “Highlander” is set to start production in September, preceding its scheduled release.
