Violent Night 2 Finally Gets an Update Fans Have Been Waiting On

A few delightful Christmas films that don’t necessarily fit the traditional mold of what a holiday movie should be include titles like “Die Hard”, “Gremlins”, and “Batman Returns”. More recent examples can be found in movies such as “Violent Night”, directed by Tommy Wirkola, who previously worked on “Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters”, and produced by David Leitch, the man behind “John Wick” and “Atomic Blonde”. This film aligns beautifully with those two Leitch-directed movies, featuring a well-crafted universe and smooth action sequences that warrant multiple viewings. However, what truly sets it apart is its casting. In my opinion, David Harbour was an outstanding selection for the action-hero Santa Claus role, and now we know when we’ll see him wielding his axe once more.

On December 4, 2026, we’re expecting another action-packed adventure titled “Violent Night 2” to hit our local cinemas, much like its predecessor.

What Can We Expect From Violent Night 2?

In the upcoming movie “Violent Night”, Santa Claus temporarily abstains from his drink to rescue a family from ruthless mercenaries led by John Leguizamo’s vengeful Scrooge. Will the child, Trudy, and her family face danger again? Or will Santa come to the aid of another group of people? One thing is certain: given that Scrooge was pulled up a chimney and transformed into a bloody fountain, he won’t be taking part in any future events.

In the main part once again, Harbour steps up after reappearing in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Alexei Shostakov, aka Red Guardian, within the movie titled “Thunderbolts.” Following Harbour is Wirkola, the original film’s director, along with screenwriters Pat Casey and Josh Miller.

What makes “Violent Night” stand out is reminiscent of what made “John Wick” appealing. Both manage to tell a compelling story within a single narrative, while subtly crafting a world that has the potential for further exploration. For example, we’ve yet to be introduced to Mrs. Claus in “Violent Night”, suggesting there might be more to this holiday-themed tale than meets the eye.

Could a band of Scrooge’s bitter adversaries visit his North Pole workshop seeking retribution for their fallen comrade? It isn’t entirely unlikely, given that such an event could mirror the less-celebrated action movie starring Mel Gibson and Walton Goggins titled “Fatman.

Writers Casey and Miller hint that the film they’re referring to will have a “Western feel,” drawing inspiration from the classic holiday tale, Miracle on 34th Street. Some might wonder if Santa Claus is challenging capitalism in this movie, as that’s the central theme of Miracle on 34th Street.

The first “Violent Night” movie was produced on a relatively small budget of $20 million, but it went on to earn nearly four times that amount. So, the question is whether “Violent Night 2” will be as financially successful. However, this could be uncertain because the next installment of “Jumanji” is set to release the following weekend, followed by the new release date for “Avengers: Doomsday” on December 18th.
