Fans of “Violet Evergarden” can expect another tear-jerking moment soon, with a new anime from author Kana Akatsuki now in the works. Similar to acclaimed series like “Your Lie in April”, “Violet Evergarden” is often lauded for its emotional depth and heartrending storylines. Preliminary indications suggest that the forthcoming anime, titled “Agents of the Four Seasons“, may follow a similar emotional trajectory.
The recent announcement was packed with plenty of information. It not only revealed the anime and named the studio and main personnel responsible for it, but also provided fans with a fresh illustration, poster, and a sneak peek trailer for Agents of the Four Seasons. For those new to Kana Akatsuki’s work, brace yourself for an emotional rollercoaster.
Agents of the Four Seasons Reveals Its First Trailer
Studio Wit, known for “Attack on Titan” and “Vinland Saga,” will be responsible for animating the upcoming anime series titled “Agents of the Four Seasons.” Ken Yamamoto, previously involved in “Uma Musume Pretty Derby: Beginning of a New Era,” will direct this new show. Ayumu Hisao, from “I’m in Love with the Villaness,” is handling the scriptwriting, and character design is supervised by Namiko Torii, who has worked on “The Grimm Variations.
This anime originates from a light novel penned by Akatsuki, with illustrations by Suoh. Its serialization commenced in the year 2021. Moreover, a manga adaption of the story was published as recently as July 2022.
The latest preview showcases a mix of real-life scenes and animated artistry. Once more, it seems that Wit Studio has delivered another home run, with the brief snippets of animation looking breathtakingly beautiful and perfectly capturing the essence, mood, and ambiance of Kana Akatsuki’s light novel series. A new piece by Suoh is equally captivating, featuring two of the “agents,” Spring and Winter. Take a look at the trailer above and the new artwork below…
What Is Agents of the Four Seasons About?
Contrary to its title’s initial impression, “Agents of the Four Seasons” isn’t a story about covert operations during the seasons. Instead, it showcases the emergence of the four seasons. Initially, there was just Winter. Finding solitude, Winter brought forth Spring and subsequently her sisters, Summer and Autumn. Similar to Kana Akatsuki’s other creations, “Agents of the Four Seasons” is both moving and intellectually stimulating, tugging at the heartstrings from the very first episode.
As a curious spectator, I’ve noticed that the anticipated series, “Agents of the Four Seasons,” doesn’t seem to have a set release date just yet. Given its intriguing narrative and chilly tone reminiscent of winter, it appears to be a perfect fit for the Winter anime season.
