Viral Animatronic Stitch Scans Tickets at AMC, Winning Hearts Before Live-Action Remake

It’s hard to believe that it’s been more than two decades since we first met the adorable blue alien who shares the limelight in the Lilo & Stitch series. The upcoming live-action Disney remake is going to bring our beloved Stitch back onto the silver screen, this time in CGI form. But if you can’t wait until later this month to catch a glimpse of him, there’s an animatronic version of Stitch working at a movie theater, checking tickets! And let me tell you, the viral video of it is just too cute!

The promotional campaign for the remake of “Lilo & Stitch” is turning out to be exceptional. At last year’s D23 Expo, the live-action adaptation of adorable Stitch was unveiled, and he immediately won over fans. He even appeared in a commercial during Super Bowl LIX, where he ran wild on the field while shouting his iconic “Nala Kweesta!” Now, moviegoers at AMC Theaters this weekend have had the chance to meet a version of the blue fluff-ball as he scans tickets in the lobby. Take a look at DiscussingFilm’s post for an excellent clip of it.

In my opinion, this charming video deserves to be watched multiple times. The scene where an animatronic Stitch serves theatergoers from a special chair is simply delightful! As fans allow him to scan their phones, he sweetly says phrases like “Goodbye” and “Aloha.” It’s no surprise that people are taking selfies with Stitch as if he were a big-name celebrity. (Admit it, I wouldn’t be able to resist doing the same!)

Over the span of many years, The Walt Disney Company has garnered much praise for its marketing strategies, and this has been particularly true when it comes to the Lilo & Stitch series. Prior to the initial film’s debut in early 2002, they cleverly marketed it by featuring the alien character in famous scenes from Disney movies in trailers. Given this history, I’m not at all surprised that Disney is again orchestrating a smart marketing effort around one of Hollywood’s top-tier pets.

On Disney+, you can enjoy the classic “Lilo & Stitch” movie before catching up with its live-action remake! The ad-supported plan costs $9.99 a month, and if you prefer an ad-free experience, it’s available for $15.99 per month. Alternatively, save 16% by pre-paying for a full year at $159.99. Check out the deal now!

Regardless of change, Stitch retains his charm as a character in the traditional Walt Disney Animation Studios film, maintaining his large, expressive eyes, wild tongue, and overall appearance that makes him irresistibly cute.

In some cases, characters such as Stitch have faced challenges when transitioning from animated to live-action forms. This was evident when the initial trailer for the live-action Sonic the Hedgehog movie sparked criticism due to the design of the blue speedster. However, adjustments were made following this backlash, leading me to appreciate that visual effects artists were able to craft a truly endearing Stitch while maintaining the essence of his original design.

Given his cute appearance, I really want a Stitch animatronic like the one at the cinema. Unfortunately, it seems unlikely that will come true, so I’ll continue to hope for an encounter with one when I visit my local AMC theater. By the way, don’t forget to watch Lilo & Stitch, an exciting sci-fi movie, in theaters starting May 23rd.
