Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O. Hits PS5 with Crossplay and Rollback Netcode!

Owners of PS5 have been able to enjoy a variant of Virtua Fighter 5 through the backwards compatible game Virtua Fighter 5: Ultimate Showdown. However, Sony’s system is stepping up its game by introducing an updated edition of SEGA’s renowned fighter, Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O., in the next round.

You might recall that this version was previously launched on Steam, boasting 4K graphics, enhanced textures, and several other upgrades. These enhancements are set to be transferred to the PlayStation 5 as well, along with rollback netcode and universal crossplay compatibility across all platforms.

During a live broadcast today, longtime Virtua Fighter producer Seiji Aoki stated that since the release of Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O., they’ve been receiving requests for multiplatform compatibility via the official Virtua Fighter Discord and other platforms.

Our development team is thrilled to share some exciting news with you! We aim to make Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O. accessible for everyone, regardless of the platform they’re using, so get ready to enjoy it!

He stated: “We plan on enriching the experience significantly by incorporating additional material. We’ll share details about these enhancements in upcoming announcements.

SEGA is heavily investing in Virtua Fighter and is working diligently on a new, expansive version of the game, while also making efforts to bring the current version into more households. Unfortunately, there’s no announced release date for this R.E.V.O. re-release yet, but let’s hope we won’t have to wait much longer to get our hands on it.
