Visions of Mana Director Has Joined Square Enix

As a long-time gamer who has witnessed the evolution of the Mana series, I find myself both intrigued and excited by the recent developments. Ryosuke Yoshida, the director behind Visions of Mana, has left NetEase Ouka Studios to join Square Enix – a move that could potentially shape the future of this beloved franchise.

Following the launch of “Visions of Mana”, director Ryosuke Yoshida has officially left Ouka Studios. Now, he is employed by Square Enix, who distributed the action RPG on both console and PC platforms.

On Twitter, Yoshida shared that he parted ways with the NetEase Games-owned studio on Halloween (October 31st). He expressed gratitude towards his development team and NetEase for their backing during the creation of “Visions of Mana“. He considered it a wonderful experience. Thank you to everyone, he added. Excitingly, Yoshida disclosed that he joined Square Enix in December. Wishing to create a game that brings joy to many, he looks forward to putting his best foot forward.

In August, the long-awaited game titled “Visions of Mana” was released for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. It’s the first major installment in the series in nearly 18 years and centers around characters named Hinna and Val. As Hinna embarks on a quest to reach the Mana Tree to become the Alm of Fire, Val steps up to protect her throughout her journey.

On their journey towards the tree, players come across other characters who decide to join their group and battle together. Although each character has a specific class, they have the ability to change these classes (and associated skills) in order to unlock different abilities and playstyles. Whether Yoshida’s arrival at Square Enix hints towards the future of the franchise is yet unknown, so keep an eye out for updates.

On a more casual note, I parted ways with NetEase Ouka Studios on Halloween. As a fresh studio, we managed to launch Visions of Mana, which I’m truly thankful for. I appreciate the dedication and support from my colleagues in the development team and NetEase. It was a wonderful journey.
