Back in the 90s, one of my all-time favorite TV shows was a gem that captivated countless viewers. Guess what? It’s making a comeback and will soon be accessible for free on Tubi, starting this Spring! You might not have noticed it amidst the plethora of viewing options out there, but Tubi has been quietly amassing an impressive collection of shows, movies, and even anime that you can enjoy without spending a dime.
The good news doesn’t stop there – Tubi is set to expand its library with some exciting new additions in May, and one of these additions will surely spark nostalgia for any ’90s kids who used to tune in to shows like the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers! So, mark your calendars and get ready to relive those epic battles and unforgettable moments!
In May, Tubi is adding a fresh title to their streaming service – the action series “VR Troopers”. This show was previously aired on Fox Kids during Saturday mornings, alongside popular franchises like Power Rangers and shows such as Big Bad Beetleborgs. Now, it’s making a comeback in May, and fans can enjoy it whenever they want without any charges, right here on Tubi!
What Is VR Troopers?
In the early ’90s, Saban Entertainment capitalized on the popularity of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers and launched a series of other shows, drawing inspiration from Toei’s Tokusatsu franchises in Japan. These spin-offs occasionally crossed paths with Power Rangers, such as Masked Rider (derived from Kamen Rider), Big Bad Beetleborgs (based on Juukou B-Fighter), and VR Troopers, which were influenced by the Metal Heroes shows in Japan. Unlike Power Rangers, these heroes distinguished themselves by battling a diverse array of villains and had unique reasons for standing out.
VR Troopers, originally a show based on clips from three Japanese series titled Metalder, Spielban, and Shaider, part of the Metal Hero Series, achieved significant popularity among viewers. However, despite its success, it was unfortunately discontinued after only two seasons due to exhausting the available footage from Japan. Unlike the long-running Power Rangers, which could switch to other Super Sentai series to continue production, VR Troopers encountered a creative roadblock rather swiftly. Yet, in such a brief period of time, it managed to create quite an impact among its fans.
Why You Should Watch Tubi
Over time, Tubi has solidified its position as one of the most robust streaming services available today. Its free collection of anime, TV series, and films continues to grow, making it an attractive choice for many viewers. Additionally, compared to other streaming platforms that are tightening their policies on password sharing and raising their subscription fees, Tubi has emerged as a cost-effective alternative. With minimal advertisements interrupting your viewing experience, Tubi offers a fun and accessible platform for discovering new shows.
This is particularly exciting news for fans who enjoyed series such as VR Troopers (and other ’90s favorites that may have slipped your mind)! Starting this Spring, VR Troopers will be available on Tubi for streaming. Plus, you’ll find a variety of Power Rangers episodes that are now hard to find anywhere else. If you’ve missed any of these shows in the past and are eagerly waiting for VR Troopers to arrive in May, this is an ideal platform to catch up on them. It’s high time to start watching!
