As a lifelong connoisseur of animated cinema, hailing from the verdant shores of Lancashire where Wallace and Gromit’s adventures unfold, I couldn’t be more thrilled about the impending release of “Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl.” The trailer has left me positively quivering with anticipation.
Netflix has recently released a full-length trailer for the long-awaited movie titled “Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl“. This beloved duo of inventors is making their grand comeback to the cinema after an absence of 19 years, and they’re bringing along a classic antagonist. The initial previews hinted at the reappearance of the cunning Feathers McGraw, but the fresh trailer showcases how this fowl adversary intends to exact his revenge.
As a passionate moviegoer, I’d rephrase that as follows: In my world of filmmaking, the ingenious Wallace has brought to life an innovative device – the Smart Lawn Gnome. This mechanical garden sprite assists with daily chores around the house and yard. However, when the cunning Feathers McGraw manages to break free from prison, he zeroes in on Wallace and Gromit. He hijacks the Smart Lawn Gnome, causing it to wreak havoc among the residents of Wigan, Lancashire. The townsfolk, blinded by chaos, point fingers at Wallace, and his days of inventing may be numbered forever.
In “Vengeance Most Fowl,” the talented Nick Park resumes his directorial duties, now partnering with Merlin Crossingham (known for “Morph”). The screenplay is a collaborative effort between Park and Mark Burton (“Paddington in Peru”). Aardman Animation, famous for their distinctive Claymation technique, is back to bring Wallace and Gromit to life on the big screen again. Ben Whitehead voices Wallace in this film, reprising his role from “The Curse of the Were-Rabbit,” following the late Peter Sallis who voiced the character in the original shorts. Joining them are actors like Peter Kay, Lauren Patel, Reece Shearsmith, Diane Morgan, Lenny Henry, Garth Jennings, and Adjoa Andoh in “Vengeance Most Fowl.
In 1989, Wallace and Gromit made their debut on our television screens with the short film titled “A Grand Day Out.” Four years passed before they embarked on another exciting short journey in “The Wrong Trousers,” where we were introduced to Feathers McGraw. The first full-length adventure for Wallace & Gromit took place in 2005, receiving widespread acclaim with the release of “The Curse of the Were-Rabbit.
Critics have already weighed in on Wallace and Gromit’s upcoming adventure… and they can’t get enough! Vengeance Most Fowl has received a flawless 100% rating from critics on Rotten Tomatoes. However, fans will need to wait a bit longer for Feathers McGraw’s return to the big screen. The highly anticipated Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl is set to premiere in select theaters on December 18, followed by its Netflix debut on January 3, 2025.
Having missed Aardman’s big-screen presence for quite some time, it was a delightful surprise to witness their return last year with the eagerly anticipated sequel to a classic, “Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget”. In this continuation, we found our old friends Rocky (now played by Zachary Levi) and Ginger (Thandiwe Newton) embarking on a heartfelt quest to find their lost daughter, Nugget (Bella Ramsay). Regrettably, “Dawn of the Nugget” didn’t quite achieve the success that Aardman Studios and Netflix had envisioned. Although it graced the top of their streaming chart, the legacy sequel garnered a commendable 83% approval from critics on Rotten Tomatoes, but a more modest 70% appreciation from audiences. It was commonly agreed among viewers that “Dawn of the Nugget” fell short in comparison to the cherished original.
It seems that the latest Wallace & Gromit movie, “Vengeance Most Fowl,” is helping to solidify Aardman’s position as a leading animation studio – which is fantastic news since they already have another project in the works. After “Vengeance Most Fowl,” Aardman plans to create a new Claymation series starring everyone’s beloved penguin, Pingu. As of now, there isn’t any official release date announced for Aardman’s upcoming Pingu series.
