As a long-time admirer and follower of the remarkable world of Wallace & Gromit, the announcement of their return with “Vengeance Most Fowl” feels like Christmas has come early! The anticipation for this film has been building for years, and now that we know it will air on BBC One and iPlayer on Christmas Day, I can hardly contain my excitement.
Instead of focusing on the Christmas television schedule, the upcoming release of Wallace & Gromit’s new movie “Vengeance Most Fowl” might just be one of the most eagerly awaited TV events of the whole year.
At last, viewers can mark their calendars for watching it on Christmas Day, as the full movie is scheduled to broadcast at 6:10 pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer on that day.
The movie made its worldwide debut at the AFI Fest back in October, however, the British broadcast of the movie on BBC will be the first opportunity for a larger audience to watch it.
On Friday, 3rd January 2025, “Vengeance Most Fowl” will make its way to streaming platforms beyond the United Kingdom, available on Netflix.
The upcoming Wallace and Gromit movie, “Vengeance Most Fowl,” marks their return to the big screen since their last appearance in “A Matter of Loaf and Death” on December 25th, 2008.
Their most recent appearance in a movie was during their debut and sole cinematic adventure, titled “The Curse of the Were-Rabbit.
The upcoming movie marks a significant change, being the initial production where the duo appears without the late Peter Sallis, with Ben Whitehead taking over his role. Additionally, this film brings back the cunning antagonist, Feathers McGraw, the villainous penguin.
In 1993, Feathers engaged in battle with Wallace and Gromit in the film “The Wrong Trousers”. More recently, this character made a brief reappearance on screen as part of another Aardman Studios project titled “Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget”.
Each movie they’ve produced is fantastic on its own, but what truly stands out for me is not just the films themselves, but the studio behind them. I admire the world they’ve built and their ability to preserve their unique style across several decades.
As a cinephile, immersed in this place day after day, it’s like stepping into a cinematic universe where characters from various films line the shelves and adorn desks. Truly, it feels as if they’ve all become an extended family here – the beloved creations of Aardman Animations.
