A fresh sewage spill occurred at EPCOT, prompting the temporary shutdown of the Soarin’ Around the World ride and all bathroom facilities within The Land Pavilion at Walt Disney World.
Currently, Soarin’ and both sets of restrooms located in The Land are temporarily closed due to a sewage spill originating from the second-floor restroom, which has flowed into the lower level.
A real crappy situation.

This event has brought up substantial worries regarding the infrastructure at Walt Disney World Resort. This is not an isolated incident but seems to be part of a concerning trend happening throughout the resort, which makes one wonder about the maintenance practices in a place that charges high rates for its services.
On January 3rd, it was observed that water was leaking from the ceiling close to the entrance of Soarin’ Around the World. The problem soon worsened as foul-smelling water started cascading, inundating the space between the entryway and exit.
The cleaning team quickly acted, employing towels to soak up the water, and for the sake of visitor safety, the facility was immediately shut down.
This incident is not isolated.
Disney cast members are politely requesting visitors not to capture photos or videos of the sewer issue that has temporarily shut down Frontierland at Walt Disney World. The popular parade has been postponed due to this incident, leading to some congestion, and unfortunately, no compensations have been provided for the inconvenience caused.

In August 2024, a sewage leak caused parts of Liberty Square and Frontierland at Magic Kingdom to be shut down. This incident disrupted guest enjoyment and resulted in the cancellation of many popular shows. Despite Disney’s attempts to clean up the spill and resume normal activities, repeated occurrences have sparked doubts about the park’s infrastructure and maintenance practices.
In December 2024, it was partially shut down for yet another sewage problem, this time in Frontierland and Liberty Square at Magic Kingdom. This was either the third or fourth such incident in Frontierland over the past three years, indicating persistent difficulties in keeping up with the park’s infrastructure maintenance, as the expense of a Disney vacation consistently rises.
As a movie buff, I’ve noticed an upward tick in ticket prices for the Magic Kingdom, especially in October, which saw a 5.29% surge compared to last year. And if you’re planning a visit to Animal Kingdom on a budget, brace yourself – the least expensive day there has jumped up by a whopping 9.17% compared to this time last year!
It’s important to mention that the inflation rate in the United States, as of September 2024, stood at 2.4%. However, it seems that Disney is significantly increasing its theme park prices, more than what is typically required or appropriate for a U.S. company, given this inflation rate.
It’s simply not appropriate for a resort like Disney, with such high standards, to have these frequent issues. Visitors expect nothing less than a flawless, enchanting experience when they pay top dollar. Unfortunately, problems with infrastructure causing sewage leaks can disrupt operations, pose health hazards, and damage the overall guest experience.
The consistent reappearance of these problems hints at systemic issues that demand broad-spectrum remedies. Although Disney has taken steps like intensified inspections and training after past occurrences, the recurrence of sewage leaks in various sites implies that substantial infrastructure improvements are needed.
Ensuring the quality and safety of our facilities is vital in preserving Disney’s esteemed status as a top-tier family vacation spot. Visitors anticipate exceptional cleanliness and security, and given the cost that Disney charges, these standards are rightfully expected.
Disney revealed a strategy to allocate $60 billion towards enhancing their Florida theme parks. This move involves redeveloping cherished attractions such as The Rivers of America, Tom Sawyer Island, Dinosaur, and MuppetVision 3D in order to deliver what they claim are superior, cutting-edge experiences for visitors.
Perhaps instead of demolishing cherished establishments to create profit-driven replacements, Disney might consider taking a small step first and make sure that their visitors are not subjected to the inconvenience of being drenched by sewage.
