The retro-styled, turn-based role-playing game “Wander Stars,” reminiscent of ’90s anime, is set to release on Nintendo Switch and Steam (PC) on August 1. This announcement was made by publisher Fellow Traveller and the developers at Paper Castle.

In a universe-wide quest, aspiring martial artist Ringo and enigmatic outlaw Wolfe chase after fragments of the elusive Wanderstar map. Structured in 10 captivating chapters reminiscent of Cowboy Bebop, Dragon Ball Z, and One Piece, join this dynamic duo as they gather pieces of the map, unraveling mind-bending mysteries, shocking revelations, unexpected twists, and breathtaking action sequences that are signature to an outstanding anime television series.

As they journey along, Ringo and Wolfe will employ their hands, feet, and speech in a thrilling fight against adversaries. Their distinctive martial art style, known as “Kiai,” allows them to blend various phrases to dish out both power and imagination simultaneously. Shoutouts like “Strong!”, “Heat!”, “Smash!”, and “Phantom! Guard!” are a few examples of the numerous phrases (over 200) that can be unleashed in this game for intense action!

In this game, you can tailor your combat style for maximum impact and strategic advantage, featuring a multitude of attack and defense maneuvers. Timing is crucial with cooldown periods on certain moves, while understanding an enemy’s strengths and weaknesses is key to victory. Moreover, speaking honorably instead of just using words as weapons can unlock special phrases that might boost your power in upcoming battles.
