At long last, I can finally experience the origins of the Warcraft universe in one definitive package

In recent times, Microsoft has been aggressively working to rejuvenate the Real-Time Strategy (RTS) genre, with notable success in titles like Age of Empires II, Age of Empires IV, and the reimagined version of Age of Empires: Mythology.

Through Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision Blizzard, we’re witnessing an increased focus on some of Blizzard’s top PC games. Notably, Starcraft 1 and 2 have been added to the PC Game Pass library, while the original Warcraft RTS series is being remastered and re-released on PC, with a significantly updated version of Warcraft 3: Reforged also available.

I’m genuinely thrilled that the classic Warcraft real-time strategy games are coming out again, as a child, I only played Warcraft 3: Reign of Chaos and didn’t learn about their predecessors until later in life. As an adult, it will be intriguing to revisit these games and uncover some of the early aspects of Warcraft lore for the first time. It’ll also be exciting to witness how the well-known Horde and Alliance factions emerged from their origins.

It’s pleasing to observe Blizzard giving Warcraft 3: Reforged the overdue quality upgrade with its high-definition remastered graphics, which it initially missed when it debuted in 2020. However, whether the 2.0 update will reinstate all the multiplayer and Custom Campaign modes that were absent in the original Warcraft 3 version remains uncertain.
