Warwick Davis has made a name for himself with numerous characters across various films. Among his most recognized roles are Professor Flitwick, Griphook, and Willow from the Harry Potter series, as well as Wicket the Ewok in Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi.
This year at the BAFTA Film Awards, the actor was given the top-tier award, which was presented by his fellow professionals.
According to a report from entertainment news source Deadline, Mark Hamill and Tom Felton – who are known for their roles in Star Wars and Harry Potter respectively – were the ones to present the Fellowship award to Davis at the awards ceremony. The article mentioned that Davis was recognized for his valuable work in the industry and his influential role within the dwarf community.
Upon presenting the award, Mark Hamill, famously known for portraying Luke Skywalker, acknowledged Warwick Davis as “one of the most industrious individuals in the entertainment industry.” Almost instantly, Davis’ trousers slipped down.

George Lucas, the mind behind Star Wars and a spectator at the event, praised Davis as an exceptional actor. It was Tom Felton, known for his role as Draco Malfoy in the Harry Potter films, who bestowed the award upon Davis. Felton shared that Davis not only taught him his initial spell, but also imparted the wisdom to never let smallness hinder one’s aspirations of greatness.
Davis became quite moved, expressed gratitude towards his dear ones, and noted that receiving this award held great significance for him. “This is among the most wonderful experiences I’ve had,” he stated, “and I’ve been part of ‘Star Wars’!
Last year’s sudden loss of Davis’s wife undeniably affected him deeply. In his heartfelt acceptance speech, he acknowledged that his children and dear ones had shown him how to laugh and love once more after their guidance. Undoubtedly, this prestigious award in the film industry served as a significant boost for his spirits.

Without a doubt, Warwick Davis has experienced both triumphs and setbacks throughout his career. Some notable achievements include playing various Star Wars characters and a Hogwarts professor, among others. The upcoming Lucasfilm reboot of Willow might be considered one of the less fortunate events in his professional journey.
During Kathleen Kennedy’s leadership, Disney appears to have dismantled much of what George Lucas originally created. One of the casualties was a sequel series for the movie “Willow,” in which Warwick Davis reprised his role as Willow Ufgood. Unfortunately, this reboot did not fare well for Davis or long-time Lucasfilm fans, as it seemed to prioritize agendas and politics over storytelling. The character of Willow was barely featured in the reboot, leading to its cancellation after just one season. In an unusual move, the entire series was even removed from a streaming site due to tax benefits!
Despite Davis being involved in various productions since then, it remains unclear how he felt about the Willow controversy. It’s safe to say that, at a minimum, he couldn’t have been thrilled about it. Thus, receiving the Fellowship award at the BAFTA ceremonies must have held great significance for him. Perhaps being honored by his peers following the failure of Willow provided the boost needed for him to move forward.
