The contest is expected to be fierce, given the excitement surrounding James Gunn’s latest work. However, Marvel Studios might have a secret weapon that could tip the scale in its favor for the next few weeks – “Ironheart”. This series focuses on Riri Williams, who was introduced in “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever”, and places her against supernatural forces not inclined to make allies.

As a passionate film enthusiast, I can hardly contain my excitement as we’re just days away from the release of the first three episodes of “Ironheart”. The talented cast has been busy promoting this highly-anticipated project. Recently, Dominique Thorne and Anthony Ramos graced the set of Good Morning America, a staple on Marvel Studios press tours due to ABC’s affiliation with Disney. Now, let me tell you, the team at GMA are top-notch professionals who always have something special up their sleeves for their guests. In this case, they had an unexpected treat in store!

Robin Roberts paused the discussion momentarily to show a video message from Robert Downey Jr., who was sporting a Pinewood Studios hat while promoting his upcoming role in “Avengers: Doomsday”. He began by expressing his excitement about Riri Williams, played by Miss Thorne, and then expressed some concern. “Miss Thorne,” he said, “I’m thrilled to see you playing Riri Williams! But the Hood has me worried. Is the hood green? I hope Mr. Ramos isn’t taking over as Doctor Doom through Parker Robbins.

After momentarily drifting off due to worry about his current project, Downey Jr. refocused and conveyed a final message to Thorne: “In essence, Iron Man adores Ironheart,” he expressed, forming a heart shape with his hands. For the next several minutes during her interview on GMA, Thorne expressed her affection towards both Iron Man and Downey Jr., stating “Ironheart shares Iron Man’s admiration.” She further added that Downey Jr. has been incredibly supportive, making a profound impact as they are all avid fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Her baby brother was born shortly before Iron Man debuted, and since then, their love for the franchise has grown into a family tradition. Pictures of her baby brother dressed as Iron Man and herself as Iron Girl for Halloween are a testament to this deep-rooted connection.

In my own words, it’s not the first time Robert Downey Jr. has been in my corner, as he reached out to me following the wrap of ‘Ironheart’. He called me after we finished filming in Chicago and since then, he’s been incredibly kind, heartwarmingly so. His support means a great deal to me, truly it does.

It’s disappointing that Iron Man and Ironheart might not cross paths in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but there’s hope yet! While it seems Iron Man (Downey Jr.) and Ironheart may never officially team up, the actress hinted at a possible role in the upcoming film “Doomsday,” which could mean that Ironheart might step in to preserve Tony Stark’s legacy by tackling Doctor Doom.

Ironheart’s first three episodes will release on Disney+ on June 24, 2025.
