As a long-time WWE fan who’s witnessed more than a few twists and turns, I must say, this latest turn of events between Cody Rhodes and Kevin Owens has left me utterly spellbound! The friendship-turned-feud narrative is as old as the hills, but when it involves two powerhouses like these two, it’s hard not to be hooked.
Tonight’s WWE Bad Blood concluded with the expected partnership between Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns, aided by the return of Jimmy Uso and an unexpected appearance from The Rock. However, their triumph was tainted as later in the parking lot, Rhodes suffered a brutal assault from his former friend, Kevin Owens. As you can see in the video below (@pwillowing), this attack occurred in front of several witnesses, and Owens then sped away in his car. You can witness the altercation unfold in the video below.

As a passionate fan, I’ve been closely following the events unfolding in several videos captured by eyewitnesses near the altercation. It appears that outside his tour bus, Owen was engaged in a heated conversation with Rhodes which escalated into a full-blown argument. The tension peaked when Owen forcefully shoved Rhodes. The crowd reacted audibly to the push, but their reactions turned chaotic when, unexpectedly, Owen began punching Rhodes.
After becoming visibly upset, Owens storms off, climbs into his vehicle, and hastily drives away from the parking lot. Following this, WWE staff attend to Rhodes and guide him onto a bus, with the crowd enthusiastically supporting him. This incident is expected to be addressed during next week’s episode of SmackDown. For those who have been following the recent developments involving Owens and Rhodes on SmackDown, this turn of events may not come as a surprise.
The Last Straw
Over the past year, Owens has consistently backed Rhodes and played a crucial role in Cody’s attempts to overcome Reigns and dismantle The Bloodline. Moreover, Owens and Randy Orton have been instrumental in leveling the playing field for Rhodes against Solo Sikoa’s revamped Bloodline. However, Reigns complicated matters when he aided Rhodes in retaining his title against Sikoa. Despite their animosity, Rhodes agreed to collaborate with Reigns against Sikoa at Bad Blood, which didn’t sit well with Owens.
Owens had been quite upset with Rhodes for aiding someone who had caused trouble for both of them over the past few years. Orton also felt confused, but eventually understood. However, Owens has yet to reconcile, and last week, it was clear that he was still angry with Rhodes. This tension has been brewing since Rhodes claimed the Title, as prior to their Title match at Bash in Berlin, Owens wrestled with the idea of betraying Rhodes.

Initially, there were many suggestions that Owens would turn against Rhodes, mainly due to Sikoa subtly implying this possibility. However, it turned out that Owens remained loyal to Rhodes. Lately, though, it appears that these suspicions have had a significant impact on Owens, leading him to now seek revenge against Rhodes. We can expect that he may soon reveal the rationale behind his apparent betrayal.
