It’s been a while since I’ve seen such raw emotion and intensity in a backstage segment. The bad blood between these two former friends has reached boiling point, and the Street Fight they have planned for the upcoming premiere on The CW promises to be one for the ages.
Tonight’s WWE NXT marks its final episode on USA Network, transitioning to The CW for a new chapter. This NXT edition was filled with excitement as it aimed to go out with a spectacular blast. One of the most memorable moments occurred halfway through, surprisingly taking place backstage rather than in the ring. This intense moment was fueled by the animosity between former friends Wes Lee and Zachary Wentz, who are set to clash in a Street Fight during the early weeks on The CW. They didn’t hold back, trading explicit insults before engaging in a brawl, with Lee’s remarks about Wentz’s fiancee Gigi Dolin escalating the situation further.

A War of Words
In this scenario, Lee and Wentz were situated in different rooms for their discussion segment, and it was Lee who initiated the conversation first. After inquiring about when Zach might be able to hear him, Wentz immediately responded with a harsh tone, saying something like “I can certainly hear you! What, are you trying to spew more nonsense at me?” Lee chuckled and replied, “To be honest, I’d prefer not to engage with you at all, but I do have to ask about Trey – how is he doing?” Lee delivered this statement with a smirk as they had a disagreement last week involving Trey.
Wentz was understandably angry. “You flew to Ohio and jumped your brother in the parking lot because you’re a little b****, but he’s about to watch me beat the f*** out of you next week,” Wentz said. “What’s with the separate rooms huh, you scared?” Lee said, “This is for your own protection. Look it’s so I do not end you before we get to Chicago.”
Wentz took issue with that, saying, “Hold on hold on, if memory serves…oh yeah that’s right, I beat the f*** out of you at No Mercy.” Lee interrupted, saying “This time you won’t have Trey. It’s going to be just like the Motel in Detroit where I put your a** through the drywall when you tried to buck up to me.” Wentz responded by saying, “Nah nah, we both know that’s not what happened.”
You Don’t Talk About Family
After that, Lee chose to escalate the situation further between them. He had a specific person in mind to achieve this. “Listen here, stop talking. This is the final piece of brotherly advice I’ll ever give you, so hear me out. Next week, ensure that Gigi…doesn’t catch wind of it,” Lee warned. Wetzel was taken aback by this point, responding angrily, “What did you just say? What on earth did you just say? Keep my fiancee’s name off your lips.
Later, Lee continued to call Gigi’s name repeatedly and directed Wentz to his location, asking him to join him. However, Wentz disconnected his microphone and departed the room, with Lee being informed he had left and was on his way. In response, Lee also detached his microphone and exited the door, where they clashed. The encounter escalated into a fight. Security personnel attempted to intervene, but Wentz surged forward, knocking Lee down, followed by more blows. As the staff struggled to maintain distance between them, Wentz continued his assault.
