Waterloo Road season 14 release date and latest news

As a long-time fan of Waterloo Road who has witnessed the dramatic twists and turns of its characters’ lives, I must say that this upcoming season promises to be as captivating as ever. With familiar faces like Donte Charles, Jamilah Omar, and Libby Guthrie returning, along with new additions such as Schumacher ‘Schuey’ Weever and Portia Weever, the stage is set for a rollercoaster ride of emotions.

Waterloo Road is almost back, and there’s a new teacher in town.

For the 14th season of our high school’s drama, the comedian known for his role in 8 Out of 10 Cats, Jason Manford, will be part of the cast, portraying the character of Headmaster Steve Savage.

Besides him, there are more fresh faces in Salford, including Saira Choudhry (recognized from No Offence and Life) who’s now part of the maths team. Additionally, new students Billy Savage (portrayed by Olly Rhodes) and Boz Osbourne (played by Nathan Wood) are bringing in even more excitement.

The previous season held a strong emotional impact, as Headmistress Kim Campbell (Angela Griffin) accepted a proposal from her long-term partner Andrew Treneman (Jamie Glover), who is battling cancer and will eventually relinquish his position to allow Kim to take over as CEO of the academy trust.

In other places, caretaker Donte Charles (Adam Thomas) and cafeteria worker Nicky Walters (Kym Marsh) took significant steps to determine their upcoming plans.

Ultimately, History Teacher Neil Guthrie (Neil Fitzmaurice) came to recognize the treacherous nature of his deceitful child, Libby (Hattie Dynevor).

Curious to learn when the upcoming episodes for Waterloo Road season 14 will arrive? Here’s what I’ve found out for you:

When will Waterloo Road season 14 be released?

Waterloo Road has been confirmed to return for a 14th season – and now we know when.

The series will be back on BBC One on Tuesday 10th September at 9pm.

Additionally, the series will be made available for streaming all at once on BBC iPlayer, while it will also air episode by episode on BBC One every week.

Who will star in Waterloo Road season 14?

Earlier this year, it was revealed that Jason Manford took on the role of the newly appointed headteacher, Steve Savage, within the school’s faculty.

Jason expressed his delight about his new position on Waterloo Road’s cast and team: “It’s such a pleasure to be part of this team, right here in my beloved city of Manchester.

During the lockdown, my children and I spent hours watching a popular series on iPlayer. Given how exceptional and iconic it is, I feel quite proud to contribute to its legacy now. As a child, I aspired to become a teacher, but upon reflecting on my new role as headteacher, I suspect I wouldn’t have been very good at it!

Hey there, JasonManford! It’s time for you to pop into the headmaster’s office. Allow me to introduce our latest addition, Mr. Savage, who is expected to make quite an impression at Waterloo Road. Learn more about him here.

From my perspective, there are certain characters whose future prospects seem somewhat uncertain.

In the series, new figures – Zak Sutcliffe as Schumacher ‘Schuey’ Weever and Maisie Robinson as Portia Weever – were temporarily absent due to being placed in foster care, a necessary step to protect them from their abusive father.

Instead of promoting Season 14 on Instagram, Sutcliffe hinted that his character’s storyline with the other actor will continue to unfold in the upcoming season, as they are featured in the show’s promotional content.

Moreover, it’s worth noting that Izzy Charles (Scarlett Thomas), the child shared by Donte and Chlo, relocated to reside with her aunt Mika Grainger in Leeds. Could there be a possibility for her to come back at some point in the future?

Meanwhile, Adam Ali, known as Kai Sharif, embarked on a journey to study overseas in Berlin, which led to a brief separation from Preston Walters (Noah Valentine). However, it seems unlikely that this is the final chapter for these two.

Furthermore, it’s been disclosed that Samia Choudhry (formerly known as Priyasasha Kumari) has proposed plans for a trip overseas. However, it remains uncertain whether these plans will materialize during the upcoming season.
