There’s a lot happening at Warner Bros. Games right now, with whispers of Monolith’s Wonder Woman game being revamped. Interestingly enough, WB Games Montreal has been rather silent after the mixed reception to their Gotham Knights release.
As a dedicated fan, I’ve been following the developments on Gotham Knights closely. The latest report by Bloomberg seems to corroborate the initial live service model for the 2022 action RPG. Unfortunately, it appears that midway through development, the studio encountered difficulties making headway with this concept. Initially, they had planned to release a 1.5 version of Gotham Knights, but higher-ups seemed to be unconvinced and instead tasked the team with helping on other projects instead.
After presenting other proposals, such as a project featuring John Constantine (whose development WB Games Montreal were uncertain about) and one related to The Flash (which didn’t materialize due to the 2023 film’s failure), there have been departures among the leadership team, allegedly due to dissatisfaction with their superiors, as sources claim. They are currently working on Wonder Woman, as was reported last year, and are also proposing a new game inspired by George R.R. Martin’s Game of Thrones. Whether this project will be greenlit is yet to be determined.
