WB Games Reportedly Cancels Unannounced Hogwarts Legacy PS5, PS4 DLC

According to reports, a previously undisclosed expansion pack for Hogwarts Legacy, Warner Bros Games’ highly successful Harry Potter role-playing game, has been cancelled. This additional content was intended to debut together with an enlarged edition of the original game.

According to a report from Bloomberg (thanks to IGN), it appears that the planned paid DLC for Hogwarts Legacy was initially set to release alongside the “Definitive Edition.” However, it seems the decision to cancel the DLC was made because the content wasn’t considered substantial enough to warrant its price. When Bloomberg reached out to WB for comment, they chose not to respond.

Although never explicitly stated, the decision to abandon Hogwarts Legacy DLC comes as a shock. Disregarding the apparent question about why a reduced price wasn’t an option, this Harry Potter game is perceived as one of the company’s key foundations, upon which it planned to rebuild after the shutdown of several game studios earlier in the year.

Translation: It’s clear that many devoted Harry Potter fans would likely spend any amount for additional Hogwarts material, regardless of its quality, and it’s no secret that the publisher known for Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League has faced criticism over monetization before. There seems to be more to this situation than what meets the eye.

As a dedicated gamer, I’ve been pondering what seems to be happening with Portkey Games and Warner Bros Games lately. Care to join me in speculating about their current projects and future plans in the comments section? Let’s brew some theories together!
