As a movie enthusiast with a penchant for music documentaries, I must say that my excitement levels are sky-high with the release of ‘Beatles 64’. Having grown up listening to The Beatles and being captivated by their magic, the opportunity to delve deeper into their history through this film is truly a dream come true.
Besides creating feature films, Martin Scorsese has also directed and produced numerous documentaries, including ‘Shine a Light’ about the Rolling Stones and ‘George Harrison: Living in the Material World.’ His fascination with The Beatles persists, as demonstrated by his latest production, ‘Beatles 64,’ which centers on the band’s first US appearance on The Ed Sullivan Show. David Tedeschi, who has edited Scorsese’s past music documentaries and co-directed ‘The 50 year Argument’ with him, is directing this film. Margaret Bodde, who has produced all the aforementioned documentaries, is once again the producer for ‘Beatles 64.’
In our conversation, we discussed ‘Beatles 64’ with both David and Margaret, their experiences collaborating with Martin Scorsese, and how the remaining Beatles responded to the movie.
