What do the Outnumbered cast look like now? Plus what they’ve been up to

As a cinema devotee who has witnessed the evolution of television comedy over the years, I must say that it is a true delight to see the Brockman family return for the Outnumbered Christmas special of 2024. Having first graced our screens back in 2007, the show’s cast members have grown up right before our eyes, and it’s remarkable to see how they’ve transformed over the years.

In the year 2024, we find the Brockman family returning for a heartwarming Christmas special of their popular sitcom about parenthood, marking its first broadcast since 2016.

The series initially debuted in the year 2007, and at that time, the main actors, Tyger Drew-Honey, Daniel Roche, and Ramona Marquez, had only turned ten, six, and four years old respectively when they joined the cast.

In the television series, Claire Skinner and Hugh Dennis were introduced as Sue and Pete, the parents of the main family. This season, they’ll be back along with other family members, endeavoring to celebrate a classic Christmas in this year’s special episode.

There will be a mix of challenges and successes ahead, as Jake finds it tough to balance his role as a parent with working remotely, Ben prepares for a journey, Karen grapples with issues both at work and in her personal life, and Pete aims to share some hard truths with them.

Absolutely, one aspect that viewers are keen to observe is the transformation in the cast members throughout the series, given that they’ve had the unique experience of watching these characters mature on-screen over the course of five seasons and supplementary specials, as if witnessing their own children grow up.

To emphasize the contrast, TopMob brought back the original cast members for a fresh photoshoot reenactment – take a look at the vintage photo displayed beneath, while the updated version graces the top of this post.

Outnumbered cast

Tyger Drew-Honey plays Jake

Over the last few years, Drew-Honey has dabbled in various endeavors, including acting roles in BBC Three’s sitcom Cuckoo, appearing as a guest on Midsomer Murders and Citizen Khan, participating in reality shows like Celebs Go Dating, Celebrity Mastermind, Celebrity MasterChef, and 24 Hours in the Past.

You might also have spotted him doing some presenting on his very own BBC Three series, Tyger Takes On. He has more recently made his pantomime debut playing Prince Charming in Lighthouse Poole’s production of Cinderella in 2022.

Lately, the trio from Outnumbered have teamed up together for Comic Relief, expressing their solidarity with this year’s Red Nose campaign.

Daniel Roche plays Ben

Besides playing the middle child in Outnumbered, Roche has also acted roles such as William Brown in Just William (in 2010) and Megaboyd on Dani’s House earlier on in his career.

Primarily, since the Outnumbered 2016 Christmas Special, Roche has been absent from our TV screens. At 25 years old, he balances his acting career with his rugby commitments, playing semi-professionally for Wasps Academy. Earlier, he confided to TopMob that it’s challenging to manage both pursuits.

Ramona Marquez plays Karen

23-year-old Brockman has a staggering 118,000 followers on Instagram now. Marquez gained notoriety through roles in The King’s Speech (as Princess Margaret), Arthur Christmas, and The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel. However, it appears that her portrayal of Karen is what has truly captivated the public’s attention.

She mentioned: “I’m frequently mistaken for someone named Karen, but let me clarify, I’m not her, and I’m definitely not a child!

Claire Skinner plays Sue

As a devoted movie enthusiast, I’ve enjoyed watching the illustrious actress, Reece Shearsmith (alias TV veteran Skinner), grace our screens numerous times since I last remembered her as Sue. Her recent appearances include roles in Inside No. 9, Channel 4’s Power Monkeys, and Sky1’s Critical. However, it’s her more recent projects that have caught my eye: she’s been sharing the small screen with Jason Watkins in Channel 5’s Coma, a series where we both star as co-stars in McDonald & Dodds.

Skinner has appeared in various stage plays and television shows like Scream Street, The Chelsea Detective, and Vanity Fair. Interestingly, she shares both on-screen and off-screen partnership with Hugh Dennis, her TV co-star.

Hugh Dennis plays Pete

Hugh Dennis is frequently seen on our television screens, mostly due to his regular appearances on programs such as Mock the Week, Would I Lie To You?, and Duck Quacks Don’t Echo.

Since the previous Outnumbered special, he’s also made a notable appearance in various productions including Ballot Monkeys, Not Going Out, Drunk History: UK, and the widely acclaimed series Fleabag.

Lately, he’s appeared on various screens, featuring in Channel 4’s The Couple Next Door, as well as hosting programs such as Huge Homes with Hugh Dennis and The Great British Dig.
