As a follower who grew up watching Superman soar through the skies and save the day, I must say that the upcoming documentary, “Super/Man: The Christopher Reeve Story,” has piqued my interest immensely. It’s not every day that one gets to delve deeper into the life of an icon who was as much a hero off-screen as he was on it.
As a movie enthusiast, I can’t wait to delve into “Super/Man: The Christopher Reeve Story,” a captivating documentary that offers an intimate look at the life of the legendary actor who became synonymous with the iconic role of Superman from the comic books.
In this movie, skillfully crafted by directors Ian Bonhôte and Peter Ettedgui, I found myself immersed in the remarkable journey of Reeves – a journey that delves deep into his career and activism, both before and beyond the life-altering accident in 1995 that left him paralyzed from the neck down. It’s an inspiring tale of resilience and determination.
The documentary showcases personal home footage and conversations with people who were acquainted with him, offering insights into Christopher Reeve’s journey towards becoming iconic as Superman and his relentless pursuit of a spinal cord injury cure.
Warner Bros Discovery confirmed its worldwide acquisition of the documentary back in January.
Warner Bros Discovery expressed great pride in uniting as a single entity, collaborating with the family of Christopher Reeve and the creators of Super/Man: The Christopher Reeve Story. They aim to share his unique story with audiences globally,” stated Warner Bros Discovery at that time.
We at WBD’s DC Studios, Warner Bros. Pictures, HBO, CNN Films, and Max appreciate the chance to commemorate one of our dearest creative collaborators and to pay tribute to Christopher, whose vibrant life and illustrious career deserve celebration.
This week in the UK, a documentary about the life and career of Christopher Reeve will be screening in cinemas. Here’s a rundown of key events that occurred in his life.

Known primarily as the American actor, filmmaker, and advocate who donned the cape of Superman in the iconic 1978 movie and its following three films.
At the tender age of nine, Lever found his heart’s calling in acting. He furthered his education at Cornell University and Juilliard, eventually stepping onto the Broadway stage for the first time in 1976.

What happened to Christopher Reeve?
1995 saw a tragic incident where actor Christopher Reeve suffered an accident while competing on horseback. The mishap left him unable to move from the chest down due to a broken neck and spinal vertebrae. In simpler terms, after the fall, he was paralyzed from the neck area downwards.
In the subsequent year, he established the Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation and emerged as a prominent voice advocating for spinal cord research, embryonic stem cell research, and improved health insurance for individuals with disabilities.
