As a seasoned observer of the entertainment industry and someone who has spent years navigating its complexities, I find myself deeply saddened by the recent turn of events involving Phillip Schofield and ITV. The revelation that trust was misplaced not only between Schofield and his employer but also among colleagues is a harsh reminder of the human element in this business.
Phillip Schofield is making his TV comeback – 16 months after his exit from ITV’s This Morning.

After Schofield expressed uncertainty about resuming a TV career during an interview with Amol Rajan on the BBC in June, he also discussed his exit from “This Morning” and his separation from his previous employer ITV, as well as his former talent agency YMU.

At that point, Schofield stated: “I’ve always taken pride in sharing intriguing tales on This Morning. Lately, however, This Morning has turned into the very tale I’m reporting.
Over the course of my television career, even during challenging times like these recent ones, I’ve consistently striven to be honest and compassionate. I recognize that ITV feels the circumstances we’re in cannot continue as they are, and I am committed to taking whatever actions necessary to safeguard the show I hold dear.
“I’ve decided to leave This Morning right away, hoping it will pave the way for a bright future. I want to express my gratitude to everyone who has stood by me, particularly the wonderful viewers of This Morning. I’ll be seeing you all at the Soap Awards next month.
Initially, it was planned for the presenter to come back to ITV in June to emcee the British Soap Awards. However, on May 26th, 2023, Schofield declared that he was leaving ITV altogether and would no longer be hosting the awards or any other program.

In simple terms, the CEO of the network (Dame Carolyn McCall) wrote letters to both the broadcasting regulatory body (Ofcom) and the UK government.
The findings from the prior examination indicate that ITV looked into allegations about Philip Schofield and an ITV employee having a relationship, which started spreading towards the end of 2019 and continued into early 2020.
Both sides were asked about the rumors at that time, and they both unequivocally and persistently stated they weren’t true. Philip’s representative agency, YMU, also denied it.
Furthermore, ITV consulted several individuals involved in the This Morning and broader Daytime group, yet they didn’t discover or receive any substantial proof to suggest a genuine relationship beyond unsubstantiated gossip and hearsay.
Despite persistent whispers, we’ve been persistently seeking clarification from both sides, with neither admitting the allegations up to just this past month.
Given the numerous errors in the news, I figured it’d be helpful to present some truths instead.
In the letter, it’s mentioned that I started my journey with This Morning back in 2015 when I was only 19, doing work experience. Fast forward to 2016, at the age of 20, I managed to secure a position as a runner on the show after applying for the job.
Afterward, he managed to get and keep a promotion to the show “Loose Women” in the year 2019. However, he parted ways with ITV in 2021.
Given the public eye he’s under due to social media scrutiny, I’ve been standing by his side since the beginning, offering my support, and I continue to do so today.
