What Jenna Dewan Learned Amid Years-Long Channing Tatum Divorce

When it comes to resilience, Jenna Dewan is no rookie.

Four months after finalizing their divorce, which followed a six-year legal process, the actress from “Step Up” spoke about the insights she gained during their sometimes challenging separation process.

In her essay published by InStyle on January 22nd, Jenna expressed that the year 2024 was a time of significant growth for her. She discovered more about herself, particularly her resilience and personal voice. She learned to stop over-accommodating in her relationships, accept discomfort, and understand what it truly means to trust.

Additionally, Jenna – mother to son Callum, aged 4, and daughter Rhiannon, just 7 months old, along with her partner Steve Kazee – acknowledged that she gained valuable insights from the challenges recently encountered in her life.

She shared that she approaches every obstacle by asking herself, “What is the purpose of this in my life and what lessons does it hold for me?” Occasionally, things fall apart when they no longer align with where we belong, but that’s perfectly fine.

For Jenna, who parted ways with Channing in 2018 following nine years of wedlock, a fresh phase in her life is now unfolding.

She argued that true fresh beginnings aren’t tied to specific dates or grand announcements; instead, they emerge from small yet significant decisions. These moments include granting yourself forgiveness, reappearing after setbacks, and maintaining faith in the journey, even when it seems impossible.

Currently, Jenna expressed her excitement about brighter days ahead, noting, “I am incredibly thankful for my family, the affection and companionship of Steve, my partner, and the experiences we are about to embark on this year. I foresee travel, numerous family gatherings filled with laughter, and above all, perhaps a wedding ceremony at last!

In the wake of his and Jenna’s divorce being finalized, Channing is now venturing into new beginnings. Additionally, he ended his engagement with actress Zoe Kravitz last October, marking almost four years since they were together. (Magic Mike star)

Despite making adjustments for themselves, it’s evident that Channing and Jenna prioritize Everly above all else.

In a conversation with People magazine in June, Jenna underscored the importance of children: “Children are always priority number one – it’s about how you feel towards them and how you interact with them – they should always be at the top of the list over anything else.

After their relationship has formally come to an end, let’s delve into the complete chronology of Jenna and Channing’s divorce proceedings…

After officially parting ways in 2019 following eight years of marriage, Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan continue to face disagreements regarding their financial affairs. The stars of the movie “Step Up” share custody of their daughter Everly, who was born on May 31, 2013.

In April 2024, Dewan submitted paperwork asking for both her and Tatum to appear in court to discuss all matters concerning their marriage, encompassing business dealings and financial transactions.

Additionally, she presented an initial inventory of exhibits which asks for both personal and business tax statements, along with other financial records related to earnings from the “Magic Mike” franchise.

In my professional opinion as a lifestyle expert, I’d like to share an insightful piece of information that has been making waves in the entertainment industry. As a rising star in the scene, I found myself in a unique situation where I collaboratively secured the rights for the “Magic Mike” intellectual property. However, it was later alleged that my co-star, Channing Tatum, diverted the earnings into an irrevocable trust and transferred licensing rights to a third party without keeping me informed. This intriguing claim, as reported by People magazine, is based on court documents.

Tatum disputed her claim in his own filing, obtained by TopMob News.

As a lifestyle expert looking back on my personal journey, I can share that the concept behind “Magic Mike” was birthed during my marriage. Post-separation, numerous aspects connected to this intellectual property were developed, both during and after our union’s dissolution. Since then, I have invested significant time and energy in nurturing the Magic Mike brand and its associated entities. This ongoing effort, I argue, has created a distinct separate property interest for me within these ventures.

In the court filing, it is stated that the court must determine the portion of the intellectual property and related entities belonging to the community (shared assets) and Tatum’s individual property, taking into account his contributions made after the separation.

In her initial list of potential witnesses, Dewan has added several individuals who were involved in the making of the Magic Mike trilogy alongside Tatum. This group includes director Steven Soderbergh, as well as producers Nick Wechsler and Peter Kiernan.

In the initial list of witnesses he submitted to the court, one day following Dewan’s document submission and also acquired by TopMob News, Tatum listed Steve Kazee – his former wife’s current partner.

After Dewan accused her former spouse of concealing a portion of his earnings, Tatum—who is engaged to Zoë Kravitz—submitted fresh documentation in May 2024, refuting these allegations. In response, he stated, “I have never withheld Petitioner’s share from any community assets or income. I have consistently supported her having an interest in the ‘Magic Mike’ intellectual property and associated enterprises.”

He went on to say, “During our marriage, Petitioner had unrestricted access to our business managers and financial records. We frequently discussed our work and various projects. Since our separation, Petitioner has had full access to all our financial documents related to activities during our marriage and post-separation.”

The submitted papers also suggest that Jenna’s petition aims to delay their divorce proceedings.

The documents state that this design aims to postpone the court case and raise litigation costs, without encouraging an early settlement through negotiation. This is particularly relevant when we consider a case where multiple mediation attempts have been made, only for the Petitioner to disregard a proposed judgment for extended periods.

Tatum and Dewan finalized their divorce in September 2024 after a six-year long battle.

In simpler terms, both sides chose not to receive alimony from each other and decided that any future disputes about the custody of their daughter Everly would be resolved discreetly in court.

Since reaching an agreement, the couple avoided another trial that was set for December 2024.
