What We Do in the Shadows Final Season Gets Premiere Date

As a dedicated fan of “What We Do in the Shadows,” I can’t help but feel a pang of sadness as we approach the final season of this brilliant and unique show. Having followed the lives of these supernatural beings since its debut, I’ve grown attached to their quirks, their humor, and their complex relationships.

The sixth season of “What We Do in the Shadows,” which airs on FX, will officially start on Monday, October 21st at 10 p.m. (Eastern Time). Following its broadcast, every episode will be accessible for streaming the next day on FX on Hulu.

The last season of “What We Do in the Shadows” consists of eleven episodes. The initial three episodes are set to release on October 21st, initiating a special “premiere event.”

In the fifth season of “What We Do in the Shadows,” Guillermo, the familiar of vampire Nandor, chose an unconventional route to becoming a vampire by having himself turned through illegal methods at the hands of his friend Derek. In the season finale, Guillermo and Nandor clashed, but ultimately reconciled in true “What We Do in the Shadows” fashion. To solidify their bond, Nandor granted Guillermo a favor: he killed Derek, allowing Guillermo to revert back to his human form as a familiar. As a result, Derek became a zombie under the influence of shady necromancer Wallace. With some character developments for the main cast and their documentary crew, the show appeared to return to its usual state – but with a few fresh twists.

The FX and Hulu-aired show has gained a devoted fanbase, but it’s likely that the cast, producers, and network are considering wrapping up the series soon. According to Harvey Guillén, who spoke to ComicBook this year, they believe ending it prematurely is preferable over prolonging its run.

“Guillén shared that there was a possibility it could be our last season, but we weren’t certain until we received the announcement. Initially, we were considering continuing for another six or seven seasons. However, upon reaching that point, we decided it was time to conclude the story. Keeping a show running indefinitely sometimes feels unnecessary – you start wondering ‘Why is this still on?’ Instead, we aimed to maintain the freshness and quality of our series until its natural end.”

I’m thrilled to share that I’ll be part of the grand finale at San Diego Comic-Con’s Hall H for “What We Do in the Shadows” before its last season hits our screens. Alongside me will be the talented cast members Matt Berry (Laszlo), Kayvan Novak (Nandor), Mark Proksch (Colin), and Kristen Schaal (The Guide). Plus, we’ll have the brilliant minds behind the scenes, executive producer/writer Paul Simms and executive producer/director Kyle Newacheck.
