A little over a year since the debut of Star Wars: Hunters, it’s been confirmed that the game will be closing its servers.
The mobile arena shooter brought Star Wars to iOS, Android and Switch following a development cycle plagued by delays.
Hey there fellow gamer! I wanted to check in with you about our beloved game. Are we facing a permanent offline phase anytime soon, and will there be any new content added in the future? We’ve got all the answers you seek.
When is Star Wars: Hunters shutting down?
Star Wars: Hunters will be permanently shut down on 1st October 2025.
The game is currently playable without interruption, and fans can continue to have fun with it until the month of September concludes.
The announcement about the shutdown was made on the game’s main site in an official press release, where the developers expressed that they did not take this decision lightly.
“Your passion and dedication to the game and its community have meant the world to us, and we are committed to providing visibility and updates through the transition process,” it reads.
The message concludes: “Thank you for being a part of this incredible journey and for the time you’ve spent playing Star Wars: Hunters.”
It is somewhat unsurprising that Hunters has shuttered so early considering its rocky development.
Although the game had a soft launch in 2021 with an anticipated full release by the end of that year, multiple setbacks caused its release to be postponed, eventually leading to its launch in June 2024, which was much later than initially planned.
This was not helped by the game’s relatively poor reviews among critics, with the Switch version of the game scoring a 57 on Metacritic.
When is the final update for Star Wars: Hunters?
The final content update for Star Wars: Hunters will be released for free on 15th April 2025.
The biggest addition from this update is the introduction of Tuya, a new Support Hunter.
Once the update is rolled out, Tuya will become accessible to every player at no cost, and it will also come with extra game content.
In addition to this, it has been confirmed that the game’s ranked leaderboard will continue to run for players to compete in when Season 6 begins.
