As a child of the ’90s who spent countless hours trading Pokémon cards with friends at the playground, I must admit that the digital version of the beloved game, Pokémon TCG Pocket, has left me with mixed feelings. While it’s fantastic to have my favourites on my phone, the lack of trading feels like a missed opportunity. The “T” in TCG stands for trading, after all!
Since its launch towards the end of last month, the Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket has swept across the globe, an event that comes as no shock considering the sentimental attachment many have for the card game.
What ’90s kid wouldn’t want their favourites on their phone?
Among the popular trends during the era of the original card game, there’s an element that seems to be absent in its digital counterpart.
We’re talking, of course, about trading with friends. We remember many a playground argument over the no-swap-back rule.
In other words, if we’re playing a card game with “TCG” in its title, it should remind us that it involves trading cards!
In other words, is there a possibility for trading cards in the Pokémon Trading Card Game (Pokémon TCG) Pocket version, or do we primarily expand our collection by purchasing different types of packs?
Let’s take a look.
Will trading come to Pokémon TCG Pocket? What the developers have said
It has been confirmed that trading will come to Pokémon TCG Pocket at some point.
Since the game launched without any updates on trading, I recall that it had been mentioned as one of its features when it was first announced earlier this year.
As a film enthusiast, I must admit it’s a bummer not being able to jump right into trading this new feature, but rest assured, it’ll hit the screens sooner or later!
In the game, the Pokémon Trading Card Game (TCG) Pocket’s trading feature is hinted at with the phrase “coming soon.” This indicates that the ability to trade cards within the game will be available in the near future.
The images you see verify that these functions will become accessible in an upcoming version. (or)
When will trading come to Pokémon TCG Pocket? Our release date speculation
It’s not yet clear when trading becomes available, but based on speculation, it might debut at the beginning of the upcoming promotional period.
We anticipate that the next update is scheduled for release in January 2025. This could potentially be the time when the trading functionality becomes available to users.
Perhaps we’re being overly optimistic here, but there’s no harm in looking on the bright side.
