In the wee hours of the morning, Molly’s dad, Thomas, dialed 911, informing them that his son-in-law, Jason Corbett, was gravely hurt. He confided to the operator that he’d been engaged in an altercation with Corbett and had ended up hitting him with a baseball bat.
Molly and Thomas maintained to the authorities that their actions were in response to self-defense, as Corbett reportedly started choking Molly and made threats against her life.
In the year 2016, Molly and Thomas faced charges for second-degree murder and voluntary manslaughter. After a month, they both pleaded not guilty. They were found guilty and given sentences of 20 to 25 years each. However, their convictions were later appealed and overturned.
In the year 2023, a father and his daughter reached plea bargains for Class D manslaughter allegations and received sentences ranging from 51 to 74 months in jail.
