Where is Leslie Abramson now? Lawyer in Menendez brothers’ trial

As a cinephile with a keen interest in legal dramas and the intricacies of courtroom battles, I find myself captivated by the enigmatic figure of Leslie Abramson, the criminal defense attorney who defended Lyle and Erik Menendez in one of the most sensational trials of the 20th century.

Ever since Ryan Murphy unveiled “Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story,” I’ve found myself immersed in global discussions about the trial of these brothers. This gripping series delves into the chilling tale of siblings who tragically took their parents’ lives back in 1989, an event that continues to captivate audiences today.

After its debut, the streaming platform subsequently declared a documentary called “The Menendez Brothers,” marking the first time in three decades that they have granted audio interviews for it.

The piece additionally features conversations with Diane Vander Molen, a relative, and Pamela Bozanich, the prosecutor. However, Leslie Abramson, their defense attorney, is conspicuously absent from the discussions.

So, where is Leslie Abramson now, over 30 years since she defended the Menendez brothers?

Leslie Abramson, widely recognized, is a lawyer specializing in criminal defense, particularly known for her work on the legal team defending Lyle and Erik Menendez.

After completing her studies at UCLA Law School, she was admitted to the California State Bar in 1970. Starting off in Los Angeles, she spent six years working at the County Public Defender’s Office and later moved on to join a private law firm.

Prior to her work with the Menendez brothers, Abramson had previously served as the defense attorney for Arnel Salvatierra, a 17-year-old individual. After being charged with first-degree murder, Salvatierra was found not guilty of this charge but convicted instead of voluntary manslaughter for shooting his father. As a result, Salvatierra received a sentence of five years’ probation.

Apart from the Menendez case, lawyer Alan Dershowitz is known for defending music producer Phil Spector; however, he later stepped down from the trial due to what he deemed as ethical concerns.
