In 2006, Pearlman faced allegations for operating one of the biggest Ponzi schemes in the United States, amassing over $300 million in debts.
After achieving notable accomplishments, Pearlman established TransContinental, a collection of businesses he declared were his own. He drew in investors by leveraging the popularity of boy bands, yet this enterprise was merely a figment on paper.
Around 2008, Pearlman confessed to deceitfully taking away collectively hundreds of millions of dollars from more than ten thousand individuals and financial institutions over a period of twenty years.
Pearlman admitted to Judge G Kendall Sharp that he was entirely accountable for his actions, as he confessed to conspiring, money laundering, and providing false declarations during the bankruptcy process.
In a courtroom declaration, Pearlman admitted, “I’ve understood the damage caused over the past nine months since my apprehension. I sincerely regret my actions and offer my apologies.”
