Monster Hunter series, particularly creatures such as Rathalos and Rey Dau, are what draws many players in. The thrill of confronting the ruler of the skies armed with a massive horn or tuba-like weapon is unparalleled. However, not all monsters are as colossal as these titans. Instead, Monster Hunter Wilds features numerous smaller creatures going about their ordinary day-to-day activities.
Among these small, eerie creatures are also some surprisingly large insects, such as the Comaqchi. This monster dwells in the frosty landscapes of the Iceshard Cliffs. If you aim to collect a sufficient amount of Comaqchi Carapace, you’ll need to hunt many of these monstrous insects.
How To Get Comaqchi Carapace
The Comaqchi Carapace is extracted when a Comaqchi is broken apart during carving. You can acquire it through completing the optional Dream Eaters Quest, but keep in mind that it has lower chances of dropping as a reward. However, there’s a 100% guarantee of obtaining it if you defeat a Comaqchi and then carve them. Therefore, it would be more advantageous for you to journey to the Iceshard Cliffs to hunt them instead.
To acquire the Comaqchi Carapace, you need to progress through the High Rank storyline as it can only be obtained there, meaning you cannot obtain this item until you have completed the Low Rank story.
Small creatures are conveniently denoted on the map using small blue icons, displaying their emblem when zoomed in. Use this to effortlessly monitor clusters of them across the map, earning a Comaqchi Carapace from each one you vanquish. If you’re finding it hard to prevent them from exploding, remember to activate the Entomologist skill beforehand to ensure they remain intact.
Additionally, you have the option to barter Chaliceweed with Rove in exchange for a Comaqchi Carapace; however, it would be wiser to save this trade for a more valuable opportunity.
Uses For Comaqchi Carapace
Once you’ve collected enough Quiverwood Shells, a task that shouldn’t take too much time, you’ll find numerous applications for them. Although it’s a unique material, it boasts several practical uses, with the majority required for Comaqchi-exclusive equipment.
Here is every piece of equipment you can make with Comaqchi Carapaces. and how much they require:
- Comaqchi Accessory α and β – Five each, 20 for all versions.
- Dahaad Shardgreaves α and β – Two each, eight for all versions.
- Nerscylla Coil α and β – Two each, eight for all versions.
- Sleep Charm III – Three.
- Sonic Horn IV – Four.
In summary, you would need approximately 42 Comaqchi Carapaces. While this may initially seem like a substantial number, with just a few trips to the Iceshard Cliffs – where these items are guaranteed drops – it’s quite achievable. Afterward, you can bid farewell to those bothersome oversized insects forever.
