In Monster Hunter Wilds, tracking down the elusive Gillopod creature is one of the game’s more challenging quests as Dareel, the person who gives the task, provides no helpful hints about its location. The Gillopod resembles its cousin, the Pillopod, so even if you’re in the right area, it can be tricky to spot this specific native creature without recognizing it.

Monster Hunter Wilds: Gillopod location

Gillopods are larger and have a distinct color pattern compared to Pillopods. Similar to Pillopods, they’re native to the Ruins of Wyveria, but unlike them, Gillopods appear to reside specifically within a particular area of that region instead of the whole place.

You’re searching for a place situated to the west of Ruins of Wyveria Area 1, an area that would ideally allow you to set up a temporary camp without encountering significant risks or dangers.

You’ll observe a wall adorned with tiny, pale-purple creatures called Pillopods. Among these, you should find at least one larger, blue creature known as a Gillopod. Although they are smaller, the Pillopods are a slightly lighter shade of purple. It’s safe to catch them if you wish, too.

Monster Hunter Wilds: How to catch Gillopod

To catch a Gillopod, grab your capture net from the item menu and put it on. Then, throw the net like you would fire a sling hook. Since it covers a wide area, you might end up catching more than one Gillopod. Don’t worry if you miss at first, as they don’t run away. Unlike the Gravid Bowfin quest, there are no penalties for capturing a Gillopod with your net because it’s the only way to do it.

Take your find back to Dareel to end this questline and get five honey and 10 Gloamgrass Buds.
