In Monster Hunter Wilds, while the big monsters remain the charm of the series, there’s much more to the world than these beasts alone. Interestingly, many of the game’s researchers need your assistance in studying and cataloguing the diverse native life found within the Forbidden Lands.
Apart from the fact that the massive creatures are indeed quite large and have a presence on the map, it’s worth noting that the typical wildlife isn’t. These small critters can be found almost anywhere on the map if you know how to spot them. One of the initial creatures you’ll be asked to locate is the elusive Tracktail Lizard. So let’s embark on a journey to uncover their hiding spots.
How To Start Dareel’s Research Report
In the game, from the very start, you are allowed to gather endemic species if you wish, but please note that there won’t be significant rewards associated with this activity. Additionally, should you have encountered a specific endemic creature before, you’ll need to capture it again for this particular quest. For instance, Dareel requests that you locate the Windward Plains’ Tracktail Lizard.
After handling Rey Dau, you can acquire this mission at the Windward Plains base camp. The quest symbol should also appear on your global map, indicating an available mission for you. Simply talk to him to claim it.
Where To Find A Tracktail Lizard In Monster Hunter Wilds
Unfortunately, Dareel’s information isn’t very detailed. All we know is that it’s located in the Windward Plains, which is quite broad for such a vast area. To provide more clarity, Tracktail Lizards inhabit the desert areas within the Windward Plains, and they are usually found in pairs.
Be cautious when approaching, as they’re rather small and tend to scatter at your presence. Remember to move quietly, and consider using a Ghillie Mantle if needed. The best place to locate them is near the Oasis. To catch them, use your Capture Net from the Slinger.
The presence of the Tracktail Lizard may be affected by the weather too, since they’re quite scarce at the time of Sandtitde. Instead, try looking for them during the seasons known as Fallow and Plenty.
Once apprehended, head back to Dareel to claim your reward, and catch the eye of an additional disgruntled researcher.
