As a die-hard fan of parody films who has lived through the golden age of Scary Movie, I must say that watching these sequels feels like revisiting old friends… albeit slightly less polished ones. The movies parodied have evolved over the years, and so has the Scary Movie franchise, which is both a testament to Hollywood’s creativity and a reminder of how quickly pop culture can change.
Are you a fan of the film “Scary Movie”? Over two decades since it first mocked movies like Scream (1996), I Know What You Did Last Summer (1997), and The Blair Witch Project (1999), the Wayans brothers are planning to revive the horror spoof genre with Scary Movie 6. This upcoming movie in the series, which has featured stars such as Anna Farris, Regina Hall, Shawn and Marlon Wayans, Simon Rex, Ashley Tisdale, Charlie Sheen, and others, will bring back the original creators, Shawn, Marlon, and Keenen Ivory Wayans, who are working alongside Rick Alvarez (known for A Haunted House and Sextuplets).
In 2025, the follow-up to the “Scary Movie” series will be filmed, set for release in cinemas by both Miramax and Paramount. These studios purchased Dimension Films and the “Scary Movie” franchise back in 2020. The Wayans, who originated this series over 20 years ago, expressed their enthusiasm about revisiting the project and collaborating once more. They stated, “We recall audiences laughing in the aisles and eagerly anticipate seeing that happen again.” They are looking forward to joining forces with Jonathan Glickman and his team at Miramax for a return to theaters, where they believe the humor will shine best. This is essentially a double reunion.

In the highly-anticipated sequel, you’ll find your beloved comedic personalities reprising their roles in a movie that ratchets up the hilarity even more than its predecessor, with a fresh spin on conventional haunted house horror films. Nothing is off-limits and any topic is fair game in this outrageous must-see comedy, which takes sequel fanaticism to an extreme. Starring Anna Farris, Regina Hall, Shawn Wayans, Marlon Wayans, with special appearances by Tim Curry, Chris Elliott, Tori Spelling, Chris Masterson, and David Cross.
Scary Movie 3 (2003)
The third installment of the “Scary Movie” series combines hilarious but excessive appearances by famous figures while satirizing horror films, blockbusters, and popular culture. Investigative journalist Cindy Campbell (played by Farris) searches for a legitimate news story amidst TV ratings season. She eventually discovers a wild array of global catastrophes, such as alien invasions, cursed videotapes, bizarre crop formations, prophecies about the Chosen One, spooky children with glowing eyes, ambitious white rappers, and even an encounter with Michael Jackson. Faced with immense conspiracies and a bizarre group of individuals shadowing her, Cindy is determined to prevent evil from dominating the world once more.
