While you wait for an official update, Elden Ring Nightreign already has a two-player co-op mod

The popular game Elden Ring Nightreign has taken off like a rocket (though not everyone is head over heels in love with it just yet). For now, I’m content to watch from the sidelines. My disinterest in the single-player experience and reluctance to be teamed up with random players who might leave me in a pinch make me hesitant to dive in. Unfortunately, there’s no duos option available at this time, which is what I’m truly looking for – something that seems to have been overlooked during development but could potentially be introduced later on. However, the versatility of modding never ceases to amaze, as even though the game just launched yesterday, there’s already a smooth co-op mod allowing for duos play.

Suitably named Seamless Co-op (also known as Nightreign), players who have dabbled in seamless cooperation in other FromSoftware Soulslikes may not find it unexpected that this feature originates from Yui. She was the creator of the Elden Ring Seamless Co-op mod a few years back, and more recently, she developed a similar one for Dark Souls Remastered last month.

Just as those pair of mods do, this one simplifies the process of playing online with a buddy, bypassing the typical hassle often encountered when gaming in FromSoft titles. It’s still more straightforward to team up in Nightreign compared to regular FromSoft games.

Currently, the mod is quite basic. It allows you to form groups of two or three players and engage in online play together. Yui hints that there’s more on the way, but since the main game doesn’t offer 2-player modes yet, this mod will be accessible even in its current state. Rest assured, playing with this mod won’t ban you from regular online gaming, as it ensures your game doesn’t connect to matchmaking servers at all. What else could you want!
