Whitney Way Thore Reveals the Cruel Insults That Led to Panic Attacks

As a lifestyle expert and someone who has read through Whitney’s story, I can empathize with her struggles and appreciate her resilience. It’s important to acknowledge the impact of cyberbullying and its cumulative effect on one’s emotional wellbeing. The experience of grieving and dealing with midlife crises are universal feelings that many people go through, especially during times of change.

It’s not news to Whitney Way Thore that the internet isn’t always a big, fat, fabulous place.

In an exclusive chat with TopMob News, the star of “My Big Fat Fabulous Life” emphasized, “I can’t help but address it. I don’t usually read articles about me, but I’ve noticed some comments on my Instagram that I feel compelled to respond to. And I’m aware there are even more harsh criticisms circulating beyond my social media sphere.”

As a devoted admirer, I often find myself expressing this sentiment: “I’m glad I don’t delve into uncovering others’ deepest beliefs and feelings, it would only add unnecessary complexity to my life.”

She doesn’t give much importance to the opinions of strangers, including those like dad Glenn Thore who criticize her harshly. Instead, she expressed her concern over the increasing acceptance and normalcy of such behavior, stating, “It’s just so disheartening and frightening to me that this is becoming so commonplace. I can’t help but wonder, ‘Why is this acceptable? Why is it spreading?’ And these thoughts leave me feeling quite pessimistic about the state of life and our world.”

Regrettably, a North Carolina resident has become accustomed to the mistreatment they experience, which occurs not just offline but also online.

In the premiere of TLC’s season 12, an unidentified individual hurled eggs at her house and left a malicious message. She added, “I’ve had my car window smashed with bricks, and burglars have invaded my parents’ residence while they were still there. Unwanted visitors frequently disturb me at home.”

As a lifestyle expert, I can relate to Whitney’s experience of reading negative or distressing news about oneself in the public eye. I recall an instance from my past when I was taken aback, much like how my mother might have reacted if she were still alive, by some unfavorable publicity. Despite having been in the limelight for a decade, I’ve grown accustomed to it, but the impact of such news remains as potent and disheartening as it did when I first encountered it.

The intensity of the criticism directed at her following the latest installment of her show left her utterly astonished.

After the passing of her mother, Barbara “Babs” Thore, in December 2022, Whitney disclosed that she was subjected to criticism by some individuals. They would express their disagreement with her actions or decisions by saying, “Your mother wouldn’t have liked this.” “Your mother didn’t approve of you.” “Your mother was disappointed in you.” I believed I had encountered all kinds of negativity, but hearing those comments was the most hurtful thing anyone could say to me.

Although she longs to dismiss her anonymous critics as mere trolls or insensitive online commentators, Whitney acknowledged, “These are genuine individuals, people with hands that type those hurtful messages.” Her sensitivity has grown to such an extent that she now wonders at the supermarket, “Could this be someone who’s posting harmful comments about me on the web?”

I’ve experienced the toll that emotional trauma takes, and let me tell you, it’s a challenging journey. Over the past decade, I’ve been navigating this difficult terrain, and at times, I felt like giving up. The weight of it all seemed insurmountable.

Whitney was deeply mourning the loss of Babs and struggled with frequent panic attacks and thoughts of suicide.

She recounted how she had a heart-to-heart conversation with her producers prior to the new season’s filming, expressing, “I’ve been struggling lately and I really need your support and understanding.”

Whitney was deeply affected by her encounter with cyberbullying and felt compelled to raise awareness about its prevalence. She expressed her concern, saying, “I truly believe we need to give this issue more weight.” Alternatively, she suggested, “Just imagine treating others the same way you would in real life.” However, for Whitney, dealing with it online was a frightening experience.

As a lifestyle expert, I’d suggest paraphrasing it this way: “I used to think that starting a new decade would be an effortless transition for me as a reality personality.”

Initially, she dismissed the idea put forth by the producers, thinking it was overused and unoriginal. “Discuss your midlife crisis?” they suggested. She retorted, “I’m not experiencing that, leave me alone.” However, a few weeks later, she found herself reflecting on her life and realizing she was indeed going through a midlife crisis.

Because if she’s being honest, she would love a partner to dance through life with.

She acknowledged the potential for reinforcing negative steretypes with her sentiment, yet honestly expressed her emotions about turning 40, being unmarried, and having no children.

She expressed feeling isolated as her friends began settling down, saying, “It’s tough to be left behind.”

After ending things with her enigmatic French beau, she’s been actively looking for fresh dating opportunities.

She shared, “I’ve been making an effort to engage in activities I enjoy and that bring me pleasure. This not only helps improve my mood but also increases the chances of meeting new people. However, in Greensboro, the options are quite limited, making it a real challenge.”

Still, she’s going to keep on grooving, she insisted.

She pondered over the option of returning to the dance studio and attending more ball games and concerts as an alternative. “Should I just spend the next 40 years stagnating? I need to discover joy in my life,” she contemplated.

She utilized her birthday as an opportunity to prioritize enjoyment and appreciate the positive aspects of her life – her friends, family, and successful career in television – rather than dwelling on the absence of certain things.

She chuckled, admitting that reaching such a height is no small feat. “Even though I have penned it down, it may not materialize right away. I am determined to make it a reality.”
