Billy Monger is a 25-year-old racing driver and TV presenter from Surrey.
Since he was just six years old, he’s been a go-kart racer, and in 2016, he made his debut with the F4 British Championship racing team for the very first time.
Back in April 2017, he had a tragic crash during a race at Donington Park track. He collided with another competitor at a high velocity.
As a result, both of his legs were surgically removed, and he now ambles (or dances) with specialized artificial limbs. Remarkably, he returned to the race track by November, and today, he even provides commentary on the sport for television broadcasts.
Last March, he successfully finished “Billy’s Big Challenge,” an arduous 140-mile competition that combined walking, kayaking, and cycling. This incredible feat was done to support Comic Relief, where he managed to collect more than £3 million for the charity.
What has Billy said about joining Strictly’s Christmas Special 2024?
Following the revelation that I’m part of the Strictly Christmas 2024 cast, Billy expressed: “I’ve devoted the past year to training for an Ironman world record, investing about 20 hours weekly. However, the prospect of dancing in sequins under Craig Revel Horwood’s watchful eye is a fear I’ve never felt before.
This venture is quite outside my usual comfort boundaries! Being a fan of Strictly, my family encouraged me to participate. It’s not just about me; I’m also using this opportunity to bring attention to my efforts for Comic Relief next year.
“I’m just hoping my leg doesn’t fall off mid-dance!”
It’s not been revealed what Billy will be dancing to yet.
Who is Billy Monger’s professional dancer on the Strictly Christmas Special 2024?
Billy will be partnered with Strictly pro Nadiya Bychkova for the Christmas special.
Since 2017, Nadiya has been part of the professional team on Strictly Come Dancing, and during her tenure, she’s danced with six different partners on the program.
This year, she faced competition alongside Olympian Tom Dean, however, she was the initial participant to be eliminated from the series.
For the third time, she’ll be part of a Christmas special, having danced with famous actors like Larry Lamb from Gavin & Stacey and television host Dan Snow in previous ones.
