*Warning: Spoilers ahead for The Rings of Power season 2 episode 3.*

Season 2 of “The Rings of Power” has arrived, bringing back beloved characters from before as well as introducing fresh, captivating personalities to the storyline.

Alongside the likes of Ciaran Hinds as The Dark Wizard, season 2 has introduced us to Estrid, a character played by Nia Towle.

In the third episode of season 2, Estrid and Isildur cross paths for the first time. Their encounter starts awkwardly as Estrid wounds Isildur’s leg with a stab. However, things are not as they seem when it comes to Estrid; her true nature soon becomes apparent.

Here’s everything we know so far!

Who is Estrid in The Rings of Power season 2?

Currently, Estrid is a woman who asserts she’s seeking her fiancé, assisted by Isildur.

In their encounter, Estrid comes across Isildur (Maxim Baldry) and, mistakenly assuming him to be an Orc, she wounds him in the leg. Both characters are on a quest: Isildur is seeking his father while Estrid is looking for her betrothed.

They ride to Pelargir together and soon find an injured old man. Isildur offers him some bread and it’s quickly revealed it’s an ambush.

As Isildur and Estrid find themselves in a tough situation with more enemies than friends, Arondir arrives on the scene. Swiftly using his bow and arrow, he turns the tide of battle, then departs, allowing Isildur and Estrid to attend to their own concerns.

In due course, Isildur and Estrid engage in a deep conversation, confessing their remorse over living while their cherished families have not. It is revealed that Isildur’s mother sacrificed her life to save him, an event he has kept hidden from others.

In the absence of Isildur, who was summoned by Theo, Estrid found herself alone. Yet, while she was by herself, an unsettling truth about Estrid was revealed: she bore the mark of Sauron on her back. Desperate and in agony, she set a torch ablaze and placed it upon that branded spot, her cries echoing through the silence.

Who is Estrid actually? It’s rather doubtful that she’s just another form of Sauron, but we’re not completely dismissing the possibility. So far, Sauron has used Halbrand, influenced Galadriel, and Annatar, influencing Celebrimbor. Could Isildur be his next target? What might be his purpose or goal in doing so?

It appears that Estrid is trying to remove or disassociate from the influence of Sauron – might she have been one of his previous followers who has now turned against him?

One thing’s for sure – it doesn’t look like Isildur is safe with her.

Who plays Estrid in The Rings of Power season 2?

Estrid is played by actress Nia Towle.

Although she’s relatively inexperienced, she has previously acted in films like Rocketman and Persuasion, before landing her part in The Rings of Power.
