Why did Killian Scott change his name?
As a movie enthusiast, I’d like to share an interesting tidbit: While Killian Scott is the stage name that rings in our cinematic world, his real identity at birth was Cillian Damien Murphy. Remarkably, another renowned Irish actor, Cillian Murphy (yes, the same one who plays Tommy the gangster), shares a striking resemblance with my mentioned namesake.
The actor himself explained why he changed his name to avoid any confusion.
“Before I came along, a well-known and remarkable actor named Cillian Murphy had already embarked on an acting career. Interestingly, his real name is also Cillian Murphy, but he decided to change it to Scott, as advised by his mother.”
He told me that she was the one who suggested the name. His relatives, on his father’s side, reside in Argentina, he clarified.
In the play I took part in, I needed to alter my stage name to avoid confusion with another actor named Cillian Murphy. If our names had been mixed up, he might have scolded me, which was something I preferred to avoid. To make it easier for the audience to pronounce, I switched the ‘C’ to a ‘K’.

In a notable turn, Scott played the part of Tommy Daly, a Dublin gangster, in the Irish series called Love/Hate that ran from 2010 to 2014.
