Yesterday saw the unveiling of the newest Poppy Playtime episode, a treat for fans who’ve been along since its debut in 2021. In this latest installment, Chapter 4: Safe Haven, we encounter new personalities that skillfully broaden the chilling realm of Poppy.
Besides unveiling the character of the unfortunate baker, Doey the Doughman, chapter 4 also expands upon the backstories of characters from earlier chapters in unexpected ways. For instance, it reveals the true identity of The Prototype, who turned out to be the primary antagonist from chapter 3.
If you’ve recently completed Chapter 4 and find yourself wondering about the conclusion, or simply eager for more insights, let me help by summarizing the ending for you.
Beware, spoilers ahead!
Who is The Prototype in Poppy Playtime? Chapter 4 twist spoilers explained
Throughout Poppy Playtime’s first chapter and beyond, the Prototype, also known as Experiment 1006 or colloquially as “The Claw,” has loomed as the primary adversary. He’s the one behind the “Hour of Joy” catastrophe, an incident that sparked the series’ haunting narrative. Although we’re yet to fully understand his origins, it’s clear he’s the mastermind orchestrating events.
Although CatNap served as the primary antagonist, The Prototype proved to be quite a challenge in the previous chapter. It seemed like we were set to face him in the following chapter, but things didn’t go as expected. So, could you clarify what transpired in Chapter 4?
After Doey’s loss, we gather with Kissy Missy and Poppy, and she attempts to reach out to the enigmatic figure, Ollie – the one we communicated with via the smiley phone in the previous chapter. Unfortunately, it’s unveiled that Ollie has been The Prototype throughout this entire storyline.
Though Ollie may have existed historically, it is not the entity with whom we’ve been conversing. Instead, we’ve been interacting with the Prototype, which has been orchestrating our interactions.
Following this shocking revelation, it turns out there’s another shock (a literal one) lurking beneath our feet. The prototype tries to trap her again, forcing Poppy to make a hasty exit without me. This leaves only the player and Kissy Missy in the room when the bomb explodes.
The floor caves in and Missy tries to save us, but we tear off her arm as we grab it and fall.
Deep below the surface, we’ve stumbled upon what appears to be a laboratory. Upon entering, an alarm blares, and there, pounding on the glass, is none other than Huggy Wuggy. He’s made his return!
